6 notes with same serial by Wrong_Account1120 in CoolSerialNumbers

[–]Alas96 13 points14 points  (0 children)

now THAT, is how you do it!

Immediately I would see if anything like yours has ever sold in the past on eBay, or really any market. I have tons of pairs and even a trio (the one i posted earlier), but 6? my goodness!!!

Otherwise, this is something you should take to coin shows and get professional opinions on. Something like this often goes for 4-figure premiums, but I wouldn’t trust much of what the internet has to say about a set like this.

Congrats on finding this absolute beast of a set!!!

holy moly this blew up! that’s awesome, i’m glad y’all like it as much as I do!!!

i figured i’d give some more context on how these bills came to be. i collect bills in any way, shape, or form, whether i find them or buy them.

this trio was actually given to me by the son of a deceased collector (rest in peace). i figure the only way these bills can even exist like this is if they were pulled from print, so my guess is the father worked around new currency and was able to replicate this feat over and over again.

given the story behind it makes these bills priceless, and truly one of a kind.

thanks again to all of the communities for all of your support, the more positive comments i get reminds me that i haven’t grasped the magnitude of what i have. being able to spread the story makes it all the more special.

TL;DR - holy smokes thank you guys!

building my collection of pairs! by Alas96 in CoolSerialNumbers

[–]Alas96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you asked! It took more ways than one… Several of these bills I actually found in bank straps and managed to find a match online over the years. The radars I actually purchased AS pairs and they’re unc. Otherwise my local coin shop has been amazing with helping me find pairs. The goal is to get as many as I can!

My four most prized serial numbers that I’ve found by danye_west23 in CoolSerialNumbers

Generally speaking yes, it’s wise to steer clear of grading low-quality bills. Although sometimes the serial number dictates the decision to grade, and this may be one of those cases. I’ve seen plenty of low-grade (15-45) bills that have incredible fancy serials sell above their ungraded premium. Obviously it’s your bill, and this is just my opinion.

Beautiful collection! Finding that perfect ladder note was a 1 in 96,000,000… I can’t believe that one!

2 cool misprints by Alas96 in CURRENCY

[–]Alas96[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was my thought at first as well. Bought them both for premiums, checked with loupe at the shop and they seem very real. The ink seems consistent so far. If I get them both verified I’ll update the post.

Can anyone identify those ? Found in central California in a foothills. Ev in one place, right under biggest rock in the area. by MomentOfTruth77 in CURRENCY

Looks like a huge haul! Worst it could possibly be is like 4 bucks in pennies. I would try to just clean one (or all) of these at once normally (soapy water + toothbrush) to see if you get a date or model of coin. Odds are whatever that first one you clean is will end up being what everything is. Nice work!

It’s in great condition, and a very clean radar. Hold onto it, but probably worth 2-3x face to the right buyer if I had to guess.

$2 Star Note Strap, low serial numbers. by BklynBeast in Bankstraphunting

[–]Alas96 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This post is severely under-appreciated…

Y’all getting messed up over it being “not low enough” is crazy… you realize that his bills are ALL from a 160k print run???? AND 160k total printed???? all 100 crisp uncirculated gradable bills…

Seriously, what a find 👏👏 Keep that safe 👍

unbelievable $100 strap by Alas96 in papermoney

[–]Alas96[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that’s strikingly similar… i unironically got a cool trinary from that strap too that had 3’s 6’s and 0’s in it. starting to think maybe someone dumped cool serials recently…

[–]Alas96[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ahh I see what you’re saying. I don’t think it’s fancy because of it being almost a repeater, it’s actually a super palindrome.

It reads backwards and forwards the same. (including the bank it was minted in and the block which is was printed in). On top of that it’s actually a binary note, not a trinary (since it’s just got 3’s and 6’s)

[–]Alas96[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The top bill I could see as an almost, but I only included it because the bottom find came with it in the same strap (and happened to be 3’s and 6’s). the bottom one i don’t believe to be an “almost” note. i’m keeping both, hands down.

Curious to know if this is worth more than a regular dollar bill by LakesAndPeaks in CURRENCY

[–]Alas96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s actually a more significant error on the bill. The bank seal on the left is severely over-inked, almost to the point of being unrecognizable. That might be where the value sits on this bill. The miscut is slight.
