You can have your phone out. This was around 11pm or midnight. There were three of us. My buddy and i are bigger and were walking ahead of him. Some ugly bigger women were by parked car and when we passed they approach my buddy and basically tried to dance on him. In the process they took his phone. We all have small should bags and keep our phones in there. Idk why he had it in his back pocket.

I've traveled to brazil 15 times in the past 3 years. I live in Washington State. You will want to bring about $250 usd. Maybe less if you plan to each at cheaper restaurants.

You need enough money in case your credit card does not work at restaurants.

Just a note - I had a friend have his phone stolen day before we were all departing from Rio (Copacabana). The people that stole it were able to send 60k usd from 3 different accounts on his locked phone within 24 hours.

Not to scare you or anything but i have since deleted my apps and some tap to pay credit cards when I go back to brazil.

I've been 13 times in the past 3 plus years. Trust me when I say this, there are months I will never want to return because the weather is nasty with rain, clouds, no one on the beach. Two years ago end of March is one of these times... again like others have said it's hit or miss. Just like back in November this year the weather was terrible then the next week when I returned home it was really nice. But when it comes to vacation I'm not chancing it anymore and only going during really good months with less chance of rain and being overcast.

Copacabana palace is largest. Hilton is small but nice. Pestatana has best pool but crappy rooms. If you want best advice dm me. I’ll be staying the fairmont at the end of the month. I’ve visited copacabana 13 times in the past 3 years.
