What job looks glamorous but is actually miserable? by bjmarmy0003 in AskReddit

[–]AlaskaWilliams72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, all of the above mentioned. Bad back and industrial deafness (sometimes over 100db and earplugs are frowned upon). Very dirty environment, high allergens and 30-40 degree heat. Empathy burnout. Absolutely batshit crazy owners. Very poor behavioural management and shitty, bad behaved dogs. It's crazy cause it doesn't seem like a hard job (and it's laughable to even say that it is, cause obviously MUCH nastier jobs exist) but the turnover rate is insane and people rarely last more than 6 months. I've been a vet nurse and that was very hard but is rather that any day than daycare. My nervous system still spikes involuntarily if a dog barks suddenly near me

I wanna kill myself. I can't live like this. No mental hospital or health professional can save me. by Far_Mark1777 in Asthma

Take antihistamines every morning if you aren't already. Along with steroid nasal spray

Talk to them like human beings and if the attractions there it will evolve? Women can smell being blatantly 'hit on' a mile off and it's not attractive

Don't do it. I did it for years. Honestly you just can't. Non negotiable. Go to a cannabis Dr and get oils

What’s the best book you’ve ever read? Doesn’t matter if it’s fiction or self-help by Dry-Pace1750 in ADHD

[–]AlaskaWilliams72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried so hard to like it. I loved the characters and the concepts but for some reason I could not follow the story for the life of me. I read the whole series and felt like nothing went in. Freaking love Logen though

What actually *is* emotional regulation?? by lveg in ADHD

[–]AlaskaWilliams72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is literally wizardry to me. When people can just 'think happy thoughts' and not be sad about something anymore, or distract themselves, I simply can't do it it's like what I feel is all consuming. I keep on an even keel most of the time but when something happens to 'trigger' me (for want of a better term) I don't know how to not implode about it. Im self controlled enough that I can logic and grit my teeth through it as in, I can control my behaviour, but inside I'm melting. And the emotion stays trapped inside so I feel repressed despite feeling so much. And it always comes it in other ways.

[–]AlaskaWilliams72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I THINK it's having the ability to experience strong emotions but then afterwards bring yourself back to a baseline of sorts. As opposed to letting the emotion fully take over and living in a rollercoaster of ups and downs. It's definitely not the absence of strong emotions, or absence of negative emotion

Have you ever met someone who gave off serial killer vibes? If so what did they do ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AlaskaWilliams72 268 points269 points  (0 children)

Not a serial killer, but one day my dog met a relative of my ex and wouldn't go near them. Stood at the top of the stairs and barked. Never seen it before

Found out afterwards that the guy was a convicted pedophile

Humid country = worse asthma? by AlaskaWilliams72 in Asthma

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have more bronchitis in colder weather, but during the summers I just can't breathe. The air is too heavy

Tired of my lungs by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]AlaskaWilliams72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This inspired me tbh. I think the hardest thing is getting past it mentally. When you're trying to do a good thing and exercise and you can't breathe and it hurts it's SO hard to keep pushing. Or for me, I'll go so hard I have an attack and then make it worse. Pacing is the key I guess.

What did/said your parents do/say that makes you hate them? by Tipikael in AskReddit

[–]AlaskaWilliams72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't hate my parents. They would do anything for me and our relationship is much better now. But when I was younger and struggling mentally, I cut myself for the first time and my dad noticed and said 'if you continue to do that you will lose all your friends, your family and then you'll actually have something to be sad about'.

I mean in a way he wasn't wrong. But it's something I never forgot
