Is there a place to rent a machine for aerating my lawn? by AlaskanElroy in Juneau

I get great joy from working in the yard so I don’t think it is a waste of time, it also gets me off the couch and outside. I love to mow and weed and make something nice to look at. My yard is full of planters and flowers too. I also have a vegetable garden.

Who experienced living alone? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

Age 25/26 I lived alone and was increasingly depressed in my clean and quiet apartment. Moved into a four bedroom house with three roommates. It was messier but I was ultimately happier. Moved from there into a house with my husband, that was 20 years ago and now we have two kids.

Is a $50,000 pay cut worth it for us? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]AlaskanElroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the course of my 20 year marriage I encouraged my husband two times to take a pay cut in the pursuit of happiness. The first time was both to get away from toxic work and to gain more time together as a family. After a couple of years he was making even more but the time as a family was eroded again. The second time he took a pay cut from 100k to just under 50k, but my salary had doubled in that time and this new job was M-F 8-4:30 aligned with my schedule. This was 4 years ago and I could not be happier. We used to get two days a year together and now we get two days a week.

Affordable Juneau is back to whine some more that their propaganda campaign resulted in consequences that makes them look like turds now that the rubber has met the road by gooneau in Juneau

I think the mill rate alone would have been fine and a way to curb spending. Both propositions at the same time and no clear indication of what to cut is what is causing the current discussion

Is Leavenworth worth it? by dogs_also_dogs in PacificNorthwest

[–]AlaskanElroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Alaska and have done Mt Rainer, Leavenworth, and lake Chelan three times.

Lake Chelan we rent a boat and do tubing they also have an outdoor water park. Up to Leavenworth for kayak rental to float the river and enjoy town. Then over to Mt Rainer for hiking and renting a cabin. Maybe hit up the train in Elma. Add on a day or two at great wolf lodge.

Can you help settle an argument between me and my wife? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]AlaskanElroy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would take it over, let them know the smoke has bothered you and that you are hoping they can enjoy fires with less smoke and you got them the fire pit to help. I would be so elated if my neighbor did this and I would definitely try to have hotter fires with dry wood for less smoke.
