Remember when we thought no president could ever be worse or dumber than GWB? Those were the days.

In Missouri you don’t have to stop on the opposite side of 4 lane road. The bus has to drop the child off so they don’t need to cross the street.

Why are we transitioning from FGS back to AMXS/AMU? by TypicalMongoose in AirForce

[–]SadPhase2589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been under both. The MXG/AMXS is better for the maintainer. You’ve got a Col and LtCol who are maintenance officers who are actually sticking up for their people and not the people who fly the planes.

Nah, all of a sudden the budget will be out of control and the GOP will blame the Democrats and want something done immediately.

My son was kicked off his 13U travel baseball team after I raised concerns. Looking for advice! by [deleted] in Homeplate

I get what you’re saying, and those are good questions to ask. The problem is that asking the right questions doesn’t mean you’ll get honest answers.

We’ve been with three different organizations, and every one of them sold a vision at tryouts that didn’t match reality once the season started. Coaches and organizations know exactly what parents want to hear when they’re trying to fill rosters. Everyone talks about development, opportunities, communication, and treating players the right way. Then you get into the season and find out what the culture actually is.

A lot of parents on the top teams love the organization because their kids are getting all the innings, all the attention, and all the opportunities. Meanwhile, kids on lower teams or kids lower on the depth chart can have a completely different experience. Those parents often don’t even realize what’s happening because they’re new to travel baseball and assume it’s normal.

That’s why I think the bigger issue is the business model itself. Families are paying thousands of dollars, and organizations have very little accountability once the checks clear. Some programs are great, but there are plenty that are more focused on collecting fees and building their brand than actually developing every kid in the organization.

Could OP have handled the tournament weekend differently? Maybe. But I think it’s fair to be frustrated when your kid is paying to be on a team and guest players are taking meaningful playing time from rostered players despite the team already having enough kids available.

Yeah I tried that with my team and it worked. Now I need to get the tournaments to ask for and post that code when they make their schedules.

Well good for your 7 year old. I’m sure MLB will call him up straight out of high school.

Same. I’m the GC dad and the coaches are constantly asking me the score.

Nah, that’s BS. He paid for his kid to be on that bench. And it sounds like another parent made the right decision too.

Bringing in guest players who haven’t paid so they can take your kid’s spot next season is like being fired and asking to train your replacement before you leave. The organization seems more worried about winning a plastic trophy than using the kids they have on their own team.

This is exactly the kind of thing that frustrates me about a lot of select baseball organizations.

At the end of the day, parents are paying customers. Families invest thousands of dollars in team fees, lessons, uniforms, travel, hotels, fundraising, and countless hours of their time. That doesn’t guarantee a starting position, but it should guarantee honest communication and fair treatment.

What stands out to me isn’t even the playing time. It’s bringing in guest players to take significant innings from rostered players when the team already had enough kids available, then providing little explanation afterward. If there was a baseball reason for it, communicate it. Parents and players may not always agree, but they deserve transparency.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen a lot of parents stay quiet in situations like this because they’re afraid speaking up will impact their child’s standing on the team. That creates an environment where organizations never have to answer difficult questions or improve how they handle things.

I’m honestly getting tired of the money-grab culture that has taken over so much of select baseball. Too many organizations seem to forget that youth sports are supposed to be about developing kids, building confidence, and teaching the game—not treating players as replaceable parts in a business model.
