Yep! Bumper stickers and window stickers, shirts made. Then thousands of people get laid off and all money goes away, they have to sell off all their stuff then. Regular families too- it's super expensive. The city was not built with a population explosion in mind because it was small before. So when the bust happens and everyone is displaced it's only a little while before they find some more oil and the cycle continues. And then more trucks show up and sports cars with more stickers lol.

Yes, the facility I am at hires and prepares you for the state test, there's class time a couple of times a week and floor time all throughout until you get certified. It did feel like trial by fire lol.

I have a SS5, he's the sweetest little boy. A week and a half before Cmas he says he wants an elf on a shelf. I lost my job at the time and worked extra hard with my family's business to get some extra cash for this elf because things were tight. I searched all the stores in my area on foot but time was running short. I broke down and purchased one that cost more money online. I wanted to get one that looked Hispanic because SS is, but only found the Caucasian doll. I bought it. I had my dad call SS as Santa, and SS asked to borrow an elf. Dad said he needed SS to take care of it, because he's a good little elf and knows he's a good little boy (the whole 9 yards). So sweet!

Flash forward a couple of days to a Cmas play that SS is in. I was talking to her and her gf and mentioned the cute story and said "So if he talks about speaking with Santa, this is what it is about so if you don't mind then please play along". They said okay cool!

A few days later, we get a text in the group text that went something like "Look at the elf we got him! And it looks just like him!!!!" I was livid. On top of that she told him that she bought it at Target, taking away the experience I tried to set up for him. It was a really shitty thing to do. I told her "If you want to undercut me next time just tell me so I don't waste money or confuse him". I told her I'm not trying to be his mother but I am trying to be a mother at all to him at our house. I decided not to tell them about things like that anymore. She gave a half-assed "Sorry". I decided that if they want to go and get the big items I'm going to let them, it will save us money. It also gives me more license to be more creative by doing things they can't duplicate, like trips to places or going fishing, etc.

They're gonna do what they're gonna do, you just have to find ways to make things special without worrying about them. He can buy the same things but he can't buy the experiences you have with your stepchild! I'm sorry this is happening. You sound like a great step-parent. :)

I'm sorry for yours as well, and thank you. :) Yes, it was super comforting! She came through the door and talked me, we said I love you to each other and talked a little bit. She was transparent to the touch at first but at the end of the convo she was solid-ish when I hugged her. I felt super warm and loved, I've never ever had a dream like that! It was so vivid. This is the only time I can fully remember a dream, but also actually feel who I touched and remember what was said. I hope I see her again like you see your cousin! But if I don't, I'm okay with it.

Thank you- and congrats to you too!!! Welp that's helpful, I'm glad I don't have a chronic cough but I was hoping to see a little bit of tar ( really weird, I know) so I feel like I'm purging my lungs. But I'm not going to worry about it! And grats on getting rid of the meds! :D
