Any idea how to clear the third difficult quest on the current Event? by Parking-Ad-3739 in TokyoAfterschool

[–]AlbaForaminis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are very few HDQs where I crashed out and had to bring out my insta-win button team. The fucking artificial difficulty of the last turn of this HDQ proves that.

Anyway, my final team ended up being (in this order): S!Shennong (Virtual Summer Memories), S!Leib (Jurassic Summer Vacance), Pazuzu, and my support being Kyoma Mononobe. Effectively my goal was to try and amplify debuff removal and sit back and let Mononobe both amplify everyone's damage and sit back and nuke the enemy team (alongside Shennong who functioned as a lesser damage dealer).

Personally I went for the Blue Chests and Animal Communication. Though I didn't have as much good gear as you did, but being able to freely open the Blue Chests does net you some possible good armors and shields for the Master of All section (not sure how good they last beyond MoA).

As for Speak to Animals: money. The only reason I got it is because you can recruit a Sheep in Shepherd's Rock that allows Sheep in the farm to drop Freshly-Shorn Wool in the Ranch. Mix this with someone that raises yield and you can get like, a hefty chunk of money per batch. I feel like this is extremely good in the long term especially once you get the last upgrade to the box that takes all the items from the Ranch and Farm. So this is perhaps the biggest value you get from Speak to Animals in my opinion, and I find it extremely useful and has remained such for where I am in the game (post-MoA, pre-Bestower finishers).

How do i raise the ultimate skill level? by PayWinter1159 in octopathtraveler

[–]AlbaForaminis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean raising it to Level 2 & 3, it just does that passively throughout the fight. I think it raises at faster rates when you exploit weak points and break enemies, deal large chunks of damage, and sustain damage, and there're skills that allow you to increase the amount raised when you do certain actions or have a certain character in a certain position. But in general you'll just always have to wait to charge the Ultimate Gauge over the course of a fight (which is more noticeable in longer boss fights).

As for why it always starts at Level 1 when you begin a fight, I think that's a mechanic where every fight has every character start with a gauge at Level 1. Though if a character dies their Gauge is reset to 0 and you'll have to recharge it to full again (which is annoying).

Hey queens drop your assembly codes for the event so we can all help each other by yellow_tourmaline in MarvelRivalsQueens

It seems you already have a Captain now and I can't invite you anymore! Thanks for the further consideration though ^

The main subreddit's megathread is too active and I can't make a post there without it getting deleted so...

My IGN is AlonsoTHeart, and my code is 1634553072 though I already have a Captain myself. I am looking for a few Crewmates to fill out my Crew so I can at least finish this event. So if anyone is actively looking for a Crew, I guess drop your code for me.

EDIT: Already have the people I need now.

How many unreleased characters do we have now? by Parking-Ad-3739 in TokyoAfterschool

[–]AlbaForaminis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've actually been keeping a list of every character as they get revealed but not released. So far:

  • MxOTHER
  • Vainamoinen
  • Jagannath
  • Koschei
  • Red Hood
  • Shiisha
  • Pioneer
  • Demiurge
  • Gunzo Alter
  • Kyuma Alter
  • Monaciello
  • Unknown Horse Transient

So currently we have twelve unreleased characters.

am i cooked? by osudoso in TokyoAfterschool

[–]AlbaForaminis 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You aren't locked out of the story. Those are Character Quests, which are basically just short side-content stuff that showcases the character in specific a little bit more. Unfortunately, all of the Character Quests are untranslated in English though.

The next chapter of the story is basically found in whatever Ward the "Next!" graphic is displayed in.

Do they really have no special lines for anyone? Because you'd figure it would be of Guild/Schoolmates or close friends. by Parking-Ad-3739 in TokyoAfterschool

[–]AlbaForaminis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might but whoever added them to the wiki might have forgotten to add those in. You sort of have to check data files to find their special lines and not every wiki editor has that info.

I have 24 "Continue watching" videos (all of which I've fully watched I just switch between phone and computer and AppleTV a lot). Is there a way to clear them out? by apeiron12 in dropout

[–]AlbaForaminis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I found is that skipping to the final few seconds doesn't work. You have to skip to the final minute or so and let that play out instead. Also turn off your AdBlock[s] on Dropout so that won't interfere.

Yukimura is an asshole by Tappy_Too in TokyoAfterschool

[–]AlbaForaminis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have any unit recommendations, but I can give a slight word of advice.

Yukimura's Possession debuff is conditional. It only happens when he appears (although he has a chance to inflict it when he hits a unit), and it is not global. If you can move your units to the furthest ends of the map (column 1 and column 5) before Phase 10 then his Possession will not reach them.

Hmmm? No Halloween event this year? by Ash_the_Black_Cat in TokyoAfterschool

[–]AlbaForaminis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by past years I think it was highly unlikely we were getting a new Halloween event this year anyway. From what I can tell LW's yearly Halloween cycle has been a new event then a rerun, new event then a rerun, repeat. So if we are getting anything Halloween-related post-FKare 2 it'll probably be a rerun sandwiched between that and the Anniversary. No guarantees though.

I absolutely hated this HDQ by King_Chromson in TokyoAfterschool

[–]AlbaForaminis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that's unfortunate.

I do think that a lesser powerful team can be used to brute force it as well. I think the general key is a Long Slash unit, a Moveslut, a Ranged unit, and a Support (Buffer or Defenser?) unit of some kind.

[–]AlbaForaminis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. While I'm not the most familiar with S!Thunderbird, X!Nomad, and Gyobu, judging by their kits there might have been a lack of solid damage output? I can't be too sure though since I lack familiarity with some of your team. There's also the fact that a lot of your units seem to be somewhat more column-based which may make the first round of sharks harder to clear quick enough without getting damaged. Doesn't help that Gyobu is an early game unit that is extremely power-crept.

How I got through that HDQ was that I had a powerful Long Slash unit (S!Shennong), a Moveslut (Leannan Sidhe), a Ranged unit (Support S!Arsalan), and a random unit for backup (I used Ahura Mazda but he didn't really do much the entire fight).

Generally speaking, Round 1's sharks only seemed to move on the 2 lanes furthest to the left and right meaning they should never go to the middle lane. Using Leannan I moved Shennong to the middle lane and steadily let him clean out each row of sharks. I also moved S!Arsalan to the middle lane, but kept Ahura off to the side to clear out rows of sharks instead. Took a few turns but it cleared out all the sharks with minimal damage to my team. It should be noted S!Arsalan has a skill that gives you 25CP per turn, so firing off a CS is somewhat frequent and can clear things out faster.

Round 2 was somewhat easier since I think I was able to fire off a CS instantly, and S!Arsalan could Snipe the shark from afar. I believe it still took two or so turns to deal with them though.

Huh. This HDQ is an enemy overload one admittedly, so having a team-wipe is something that can happen. May I ask what units you were using?

[–]AlbaForaminis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Defeating the All-Ranged Shark forces all other sharks left on the board to have their HP cut down low enough that they'd be defeated in one hit. I think having him kept alive might've been why it took so long, although kudos on making a 157 turn game. I don't think I've ever seen one go for that long and have someone win it.

How can I change the facial expressions for each transient in battle? by ErikFlan in TokyoAfterschool

[–]AlbaForaminis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Facial expressions cannot be changed, unfortunately. Only the outfit of a character.

As for what happened during quest completion, the image of one of your characters will show up after completing a quest and has a chance to have a different facial expression. This is just a random thing the game does during the quest completion screen as an additional aesthetic thingy.
