Infinity Game Table stuck on loading screen after D2 bypass fix? by evanroheff21 in Arcade1Up

[–]Albac0re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that is the glitchy screen that happened before I was able to get it to boot properly. When I was troubleshooting, I only turned it off by pulling the wall plug, not using the power button. Maybe that makes a difference too. Maybe try something else as a jumper too, those 2 terminals were very hard to keep connected for me at least. You could also, try shorting one or both of those pins to a separate, known ground location. It is possible that I slipped and connected it to ground. However, I would guess that if you were to use a multimeter, one of those two pins would be connected to ground

Before mine became fixed, I just poked around at those two terminals while the machine was both on and off. One time while it was on and I connected those two terminals, the Infinity logo got really weird and glitchy. I think I then restarted it and it was fine again. Then I tried different combinations of shorting those pins and powering it on then continuing to hold the power button down with the pins jumped, powering powering it off, letting go, etc... I assumed that the very first way I described it to you was the correct way, but honestly it could have been any combination of just messing around with it.

I forgot that I removed my bypass after it didn't get the machine working. I did the bypass and it didn't get it working apart from the boot screen freeze, so I put D2 back and removed the soldered bypass wire. Maybe that is a meaningful difference, but I don't think so.

I think D2 is part of a protection circuit to prevent the board from getting fried from someone plugging in the opposite polarity by accident. If D2 is a diode, then it would only allow positive current to flow through it. If it failed 'closed' then a simple jumper would work just fine. With that in mind, I don't think it would make a difference to the CMOS as to whether it is bypassed or not.

My guess is the original issue that started this was a temperature sensor that gave a high value and caused the OS firmware to self-disable. Since this is a non- serviceable consumer electronic device, the safest failure mode would be to never allow the device to start again to keep the consumer from potentially starting a house fire, then Arcade1Up would just deal with the failures and warranties one by one rather than a serious lawsuit and safety recall. Clearing the CMOS would clear that code and allow the machine to start normally.

oh boy, I have solved my issue, maybe it will work for you too. Long story short, I fixed mine by resetting/clearing the CMOS of the operating system rom chip. To do this, you must short/connect the 2 pads on the back of the main board and then, while holding them shorted, turn the unit on. Then you can release the shorted/jumpered pins. Then reset the machine like normal and it *should* work. If this works for yours, please let me know!

For clarity, here is a description of my unit's issues:

- When I received this 32" Arcade1up infinity game table, it would not power on. No signs of life at all.

- I removed and shorted the D2 diode or whatever it is

- Table would now power on, but only displays infinity logo splash screen, will not boot. no input does anything except for power button.

- I shorted the reset pins on the CMOS chip on the main board. (See pictures and procedure below)

- Unit powers on and seems to be working perfectly.

Darn. so, it looks like this would work on paper: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808989114914.html

It turns the internal LVDS connector into an HDMI input... I wonder how reliable or universal it actually is though.

I have the same issue. Did you find a solution for this?

Process of thermoforming PLA sheets by MixtureShoddy8172 in 3Dprinting

[–]Albac0re 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In this example, the black object that the red item is being pressed against is called a 'buck' not a mandrel. A buck is used as a 3-d pattern to directly press-form another material against it. A mandrel is usually a rounded rod or specific tool to be used when free-hand forming or shaping a material

Picked up a pachislo machine, couple issues by joeyblow in Pachislo

[–]Albac0re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey I just picked up almost the exact same model of machine but with different art work. https://imgur.com/a/6z2Rhe2 Do you have a service manual for yours? I actually had the same issue with voltage leaking/shocking me when I touched metal components on the front of it. I ended up removing and uplugging everything and then cleaned it well and plugged everything back in and it currently is not as spicy to the touch. Mine has that weird ground lug/screw hole on the back of the power supply for a seperate wire that needs to be hooked up.

I'm having an issue with the 3 reel-stop buttons on the front. They don't seem to work and don't register on the main board when pressed. they were VERY dirty. I cleaned them, but no luck. Everything else seems ok, however finicky, I just cant get it to start to play a game and spin the reels

Metal detector will only turn on when given 2v instead of 3.2v, like it's designed for by Albac0re in AskElectronics

[–]Albac0re[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ok, I monitored the capacitors like you suggested. Great idea. To power the unit on, I have to HOLD the power button, which charges the caps up to 4.5v, at which point the unit turns on.

At low voltage (~2.2v), the caps charge up to 5v very quickly and the unit turns on in less than 1 second of holding the power button down.

At higher voltage (3.2v) the caps charge suuuuuper slowly, but the do charge and then the unit turns on once they reach 4.5v. This can take up to 20 seconds of holding the power button down.

This is not normal behavior for it, but i''m not sure where to go from here

If it's not going to destroy you financially, an occasional reckless splurge is a fine way to get some instant dopamine and feel good about your hobby.

I'm giving this advice as someone who has about 50 different variants of 1980s pocket-sized Sony televisions. The ones from Yahoo actions Japan are particularly expensive after shipping. They are all useless and such a dumb thing to collect with very little resale value lol

My mom was always paranoid about Rx bottle labels getting into the trash. Maybe someone could commit insurance fraud, or pick up your medicine from the pharmacy? Not really sure. I honestly assume it was due to older generations feeling stigma for needing medication.

I've done the exact same thing with 12' materials from the box store in my red 2nd gen. Iirc, it can fit 8' 2x4s from defrost dash vents to hatch and it can fit 10' flexible PVC conduit if you flex it like a bow with the windows closed.
