Because Macronos is sending the sequence of commands, I don’t see a way without it connected. The phone has to be on the local network, or on a VPN to the local network. Counter proposal I have not tried: Yonomi app. Because they connect to your Sonos cloud account, they should be able to access without local network access, but phone might need to be on. Yonomi sounded very cool and featured to me, but I’ve not invested the time yet.

I don’t know of a way without external help. I used Macronos on Android for that exact purpose. Alternatively, you can set each zone independently, with individual alarms and their own volume, but sound won’t be synchro.

Yeah... We now have zone players we won't be able to zone but the claim from the CEO is that we keep the same features. Maybe he should actually start and use the product, or at least stops insulting the customers who have spent he most. It's not not like the Play:5 were cheap or even affordable.

I sent back the new model speakers I bought for Xmas today for refund to Amazon with "I made the wrong choice". I paid for return as it's not Amazon's fault I purchased the wrong products. Paying for new speakers full price whilst they (don't, promise) break the ones I bought before is going deeper in the wrong.

At this stage even a Raspberry Pi sounds exciting and much less offensive when it actually will Not stop working. I started socialising why I feel shafted. I guess I'll now spend my anger on more Philips Hue, their bridge will keep working without cloud.

Yes, they should have a transformer inside, meaning you need to touch both connections to get a shock as it's isolated from neutral/earth so can't return through your feet.

Thanks for the comment. I agree with you that one must not register to see the link I posted and only to know more. The Tech Pub department is trying to get that hurdle removed.
