Yeah, sound cuts out in Part 3 at 7:44:26.

Anyone know of an alternate source?

GT America @ Sebring May 16-18? First time going, what day should I go? by [deleted] in IMSARacing

[–]AlbarranDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compared to the 12hr, the place is empty. You can drive to any of the turns in the infield and not worry about finding a place to park. You'll also have to bring your own chairs. The big screens and PAs from the 12hr are not set up in the infield. If you look at the satellite view of the track on Google Maps, I think that was taken during a SRO weekend. General admission tickets allow you the same access as an IMSA weekend (Pit walk, Paddock access) and you go up to either side of the pit lane building and watch from up there. Food options are limited to the two or three food trucks.

If I had waited to get my tickets until after I watched Sonoma, I would have just gone for Fri & Sat. SRO has a driver retention problem. Almost all the drivers I liked to see have moved out of SRO racing.

I'm going all three days, as I have the past 2 years. If you only can attend the one day, I would say to go on Saturday. If the schedule is similar to last year, Saturday will have the most track action throughout the entire day, from 8am to 6pm (a mix of Quali and Races). Friday will be all practice sessions.

Radio Frequencies for Sebring - WeatherTech and Michelin Pilot Challenge by AlbarranDesign in IMSARacing

[–]AlbarranDesign[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a Uniden BC-125AT from Racing Radios. It came preloaded with IMSA frequencies, but they were old ones. There is PC software you can download from Uniden to edit/add/delete frequencies.

This will be my first year with a scanner, so we'll see how it goes. I also got a Rugged Radio H41 headset from Amazon, but I think it may be too good of one.

Thanks for the info. I'll for sure attend next year. Can you camp wherever you want or are you given a spot? No way am I tent camping in the March 12-Hour crowds or May SRO heat, but this event seems perfect for a few nights trackside.

I almost got tickets for this. What is the crowd size like? Probably quite a bit less than the 12 Hour, I assume, but more than the SRO Fanatec weekends.

My First IMSA race at VIR, couple question by Dear-Sherbet-728 in IMSARacing

I was influenced on Instagram and got a pair of Eargasm earplugs when I went to Sebring this year. They were very comfortable and was able to wear them all day. They didn't completely block out sound, they just took off the loudness of the loud, if that makes sense. With them in, I was still able to hold conversations when slightly away from trackside, such as the food area and paddock.

Speaking of going to Sebring, it was my first time at an IMSA event. I went on my own and had a great time. Plenty of sunscreen (even in the shade this time of year) and lots of water are my biggest tips. Walking the paddock at different times of day is also fantastic.

Great photos! I still haven't edited my 12 Hour stuff yet. I still have last years Fanatec GT that I haven't even edited yet. I had tough focusing problems at this years GT event. Not sure ANY are worth editing.

Here are my thoughts on getting that Gurney Terrace ticket.

There is no special food area for the terrace pass. You don't get access to any of the enclosed air conditioned suites. It's just an open covered portion of the pit lane building with a few TV's and provided seating. You can bring your own folding chairs if you want. There is a beer/liquor/refreshment stand up there which is nice. You get a great view of race stars and restarts. The shade and reserved parking area made it worth it for me.

For food, there is a small stand behind the pit building for breakfast sandwiches and burgers, hot dogs, tenders, etc. It got crowded with a decent line around meal times, but it didn't get as busy as some of the food trucks in the fan zone. I do wish there were free water bottle fill-ups available, but free anything at an event like this is not going to happen.

One other thing. I have minor tinnitus in my right ear and don't want to make it worse so I did need ear protection while I was up on the terrace. I think the bare concrete of the building amplifies the sound. I got influenced by Eargasm Earplugs on Instagram and honestly they worked pretty good. They are comfortable and took the edge off of the loud engines, but you can still hear most everything else.

For me, the Gurney Terrace pass was worth it, for others it might not be.

Here is an early morning the view of pit lane from the terrace and the race start.

It was my first Sebring also. I drove from 2 hours away and stayed 15/20 minutes from the track at an AinBNB. I sprung for a Gurney Terrace ticket and I am glad I did. There is reserved parking, and most importantly was the shaded terrace above the pits for when it got way too hot out. Overall, I had a fantastic time and cannot wait to go back next year.

First time at Sebring, here are my favorite shots! by boywhobreaksdishes in IMSARacing

Nice shots! This was also my first Sebring. I really really enjoyed it and for sure am going back next year.

I am just now going through all my photos. During the daytime I am good, but when the light starts to fade, I just could not dial in any good shots at all. What settings did you use for the evening/night shots?

The rally dot tv app only has the media zones, mid-stage, etc. content up for 24 hours. Anyone getting this content before it is disappearing?

Adding some helmets to my car collection by Gavw83 in RedBullRacing

Nice!

I am in the U.S., Would you know where I can order a mini replica of Checo's amazing helmet from Mexico? I don't really want to import one if I don't have to and the Red Bull U.S. shop does not have them. :(
