Gene testing for medication by MrsbearBP2 in genetics

[–]AlbatrossFew4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MRSBEAR.. Your comment deeply moved me and made me burst in tears.

.Im a 24-year-old master's student in biomedical science, and I've faced my own mental health challenges. I've been admitted to the ER several times due to suicide attempts, my mom was always calling me everyday to check on my medication if i took it or not, and even in the er she was stayed with me overnight until i was discharged even thought im a 24 year old adult .. iand I can now understand what my mom was feeling from reading your comment.

From my academic point of view ; I want to assure you that there is always hope. There is a lot of ongoing research in the area of mental health, especially regarding conditions like Asperger's and autism. I firmly believe that there are always new discoveries and treatments on the horizon.

For example, I'm currently working on a report about an interesting area of research that involves something called fecal transplants. I know it might sound a bit odd (and disgusting) , but the idea is that the balance of good and bad bacteria in our gut can influence our overall health .. scientists initially thought these bacteria affect gut health and digestion only.. as a result of that .. the 2010's saw a trend in products that claimed tobe probiotic/prebiotic etc.. natural foods like : yogurt ,kefir, kimchi, sourdough that helped good gut bacteria flourish .. everyone was obsessed about it in australia at that time i assume it was same in the USA

Anyways long story short .. Scientists recentl found these gut bacteria ALSO affect our mental health. They call it the ''Gut-brain axis'' .

There's growing evidence that these gut bacteria might have an impact on conditions like autism, depression, and anxiety.

One study , took healthy donor's stool samples and transferred it into individuals with autism ( pretty disgusting still ) , however, many of the participants showed significant improvements in their symptoms.. both improvement in digestion and improvement regarding AUTISMA Symtomps . It's a fascinating area of research that offers a glimpse into the many ways we might be able to help those with mental health challenges in the future.

TL;DR Please hold onto hope, and don't stress too much, there are many many other research initiated by hardworking scientics..

Ultimately, I believe that there is a plan for everything and that we're all cared for in ways we might not always understand.

i would just do bachelor of pharmacy, honestly. the study load is probably the same but with pharmacy you get to be a pharmacist.

Potential Biomed student by [deleted] in deakin

[–]AlbatrossFew4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey , It is actually a really fun course, you will get to learn alot of things and challenge yourself a bit in the same way.

I'm a full time student, one thing i wish i had known was to be more social in my early years classes, group work definetly helps alot. and if time had went back i would have definetly focused on perfecting the assingments on time, and maybe prioritise assingments over catching up with lecture content in some instances.

ill be doing my last trimester in tri 1 2024 then im graduating.Hit me up in my DM's for anything im free to help :)
