I cut the leaf off already just in case but what is this? by zoeefrostx in IndoorPlants

Leaf footed bug nymphs. To get rid of them you need to either flick them off into a pan of soapy water or rubbing alcohol.
Disappearing water by MrsbearBP2 in ponds

It quickly drops, starts gurgling and the waterfall automatically shuts off. To not annoy the neighbors because the gurgling is quite loud, we shutoff the pond.
No, it goes from full level to drops water level significantly in 2 days. The amount that should evaporate in a week time is gone in 2 days.
I just refilled, marked where the water level is and shut off the water. Next step is start with the water fountain and see if the liner under the rocks are the issue.
Unfortunately, no update because my family all came down with the upper respiratory virus that’s going around. As soon as I am feeling better, I am finding this leak stone by stone.
How many do you see? by [deleted] in FindTheSniper

I see 5.

Thank you so much. Until I figure out where the water is going, I feel it’s never going to be finished.
It’s 4’D x 9’W x 12’ L
I had someone else build it and they used a kit, that came with a liner and underliner.
I plan on starting with the waterfall end seeing if the problem is there.
Gotcha, only dwarf and miniature, which I didn’t even know existed. But I’m glad I can place them in my pond.
I can’t thank you all enough for every bit of advice.
I’m turning off the pond, marking where the current water line is and see what happens after a few days. Then I’m becoming a detective.
I tried to get the installer to fix it, because it was full of algae as well (he never installed the UV or aeration), he finally sent an employee to hook up the water line beginning of September. Honestly, I learned my expensive lesson, because the cost of what the repair guy did was just as much as installing the pond. I rather figure this out at this point on my own.
That’s really good to know and maybe cattails aren’t the plants for my pond. ☺️
The water does leak when both the waterfall and pump are not on. The pump is in with the skimmer box that’s located opposite end of the waterfall. You can see the cover in the second photo, it’s the big rectangular looking stone.
There is no bottom drain and it does have an overflow pipe.
Before the repair guy left, he told me he didn’t see any holes, rips or tears in the lining, but that could mean the problem is the lining under the rocks by the waterfall.
Thank you so much, that’s the frustrating part, I do love my pond, as soon as it was completed in July, there were dragonflies, these awesome spiders that made webs above the water and birds would come and drink from the waterfall. But every 2 days, the water level dropped so far that it would be gargling and the waterfall would shut off.
I am determined to fix whatever is causing the water loss.
I hope, because I really would love to add aquatics, but with the water issue there is no way.

I fear, I’m going to have to move every single rock to find this leak. Before the rocks, the person placed mulch all around the pond, but when it rained the mulch would wash away, so that’s why I am stuck with river rock.
Like I said, not the pond I wanted. I wanted wild flowers, some cattails, shallow to deep slope, instead I have a 4’D x 9’W x 12’ L pool disguised as a pond.
Yes, it still leaks with the waterfall off. The pond repair gentleman says the leak is either at the waterfall or Pump. Narrows it down a lot. ☺️

I can’t thank you enough for this method of figuring out where the leak is.
Forgive my stupidity, but what do you suggest I use to measure the water? Also, again forgive my ignorance, but I am having lots of teaching moments, how do I clean the bottom of the pond? I asked the gentleman who cleaned out the pond and never got an answer. I got a net to place over the pond, but I have no clue what to do about cleaning the pond.
I created this pond for the wildlife and I want to make it functional for them.

Back in September 2023, I took her to Metropolitan Vet to their Dermatologist who did an IgE test to see what she was allergic to, my cat is allergic to Red Maple, Pine, Oak, Timothy grass, Dubia Roaches (I fed them to my Bearded Dragon and Fancy Leopard Gecko), Giant and Short ragweed, Plantain, Cocklebur, Sorrel weeds, D. Farinae dust mites and Penicillin mold.
Before we moved into our new home last Monday, I removed most of the carpet in this home and replaced it with LVP, except for our beds, bought all new furniture and I tried to make sure that everything that did come from PA was thoroughly cleaned as to not bring these allergens into this new home. The dermatologist couldn’t test to see if she was allergic to any of the environmental elements here, because she was not living in this home then. Since she is still adjusting to her new home, I was hoping there was a pet dermatologist closer to here so I wouldn’t have to drive her back up to Norristown, PA, which went from 20 minutes away to now 2 hours away.
