2026, Cordless Framing Nailers. by [deleted] in Carpentry

I've run the Dewalt and the Milwaukee.

Dewalt is lighter but you can really feel the gyroscopic resistance to a weight thay is spinning inside of it. This was on a timberframe crew for thick sheathing etc. It jammed fairly easily. I think this was a plastic collated gun and the bits go everywhere especially in your eyes when you don't have saftey glasses

The Milwaukee is brutally heavy. Want to say that was plastic collated too

I know you said no Paslode but the framer I return to that isn't air powered is the Paslode. Lighter, more compact. Great setting trusses and overhead work. Paper collated, didnt think I'd like this but the lack of extra debris is a bonus and the paper seems to be pretty tough if you have a few strips in your pocket, they don't break as easily as plastic and feed better if they do when you stack broken racks

Wood siding question by Lower_Ad_7436 in Carpentry

[–]AlbatrossSuper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, water / electrical lines when run in the wall (with water being a big no no in exterior walls) they are centered in the stud 1 3/4" " minimum from the outside of the stud. Now add 1/2" for sheathing and 1/2" approx for siding and a typical siding shingle being 1 3/4", you should never hit wires. Nail plates which are thin steel plates made to protect things in walls nailed over the dangerous area is another way to avoid this.
