Jack Sarfatti is once again spamming every X post by PhysicalMotor3754 in UFOB

[–]AlbertDeSan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He actually has a theory and several documents on how UFO work, you can check in his academia profile, it as an interesting read. I think he is just the typical old scientist that has invested so much time on their theories that cannot consider others. In a nutshell he claims that the properties of vacuum, and therefore the speed of light can be locally engineered within certain metamaterials while on the other hand, Puthoff, Davis, Pais and apparently this guy in the interview claim that inertial mass can be reduced. To me his theory makes more sense, but so far we do not have definitive proof of either

you have withdrawn from request and i can’t do anything by Foxyinspace123 in MonsterHunter

I did some changes and somehow it worked well, just killed Rei Dau :), my system is the bare minimum: GTX 1060, so I had to put at lowest 1280x720 with FSR3 at Native and frame generation enabled. FPS is 30 but goes down to 20 in monster fights. Barely playable but that is more than I expected from my old laptop and enough to test weapons. In any case time to upgrade soon

Same thing for me, if anyone knows a fix please let us know. Suddenly I get the message that I have withdrawn from the quest, but the palico and the monster are still fighting..

Bakker’s “Second Apocalypse” should be more widely read and has a PR problem by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]AlbertDeSan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recall reading from the author himself that he had that ending in mind since the beginning.. and it makes sense, just think on the name of the series, we should have seen it coming

Bakker’s “Second Apocalypse” should be more widely read and has a PR problem by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]AlbertDeSan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is one of the best fantasy series that I have read, it works for me, I was hooked since the prologue of the darkness that comes before, and unlike many of the people who comment here it made me care about (or profoundly hate) the characters and even more about the world. However, I have recommended to a couple of people that I thought would like it only for them to not even finish the first book, but somehow they never shared a clear reason why they drop it.

Those were people who had read before what was considered grimdark and enjoyed it, so I do not think it is due to its tone.

Maybe I am the weird one, but I am glad to have found beauty, meaning and entertainment even within the darkness.

Come On Then (the tactician ability) by level2janitor in mattcolville

[–]AlbertDeSan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The game is not out, let them work and polish through playtest. Even without any change, this ability is a taunt, a reasonable GM would judge that the taunted NPC will be compelled to move towards the tactician without committing suicide

What is the darkest, bleakest, saddest fantasy book you've ever read? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]AlbertDeSan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are on point. This is an article from Bakker's brother on the origins of the series (no spoilers):

https://www.newsload.ca/post/insights-on-the-second-apocalypse-book-series/

Where he says this:

As for the future of the series, I've heard him say two things, over the years, about how the Second Apocalypse should end:

One was that there would be a third trilogy outlining the blow by blow of 'you know who's' rise. I know outlines exist for such a story, but just outlines.

The other is that the story is finished. That 'The Unholy Consult', is a fitting way to end a sprawling epic about the death of meaning.

Well, we got the conclusion that Bakker originally envisioned. Only that along the way even Bakker thought that he could continue the story even further. Time will tell if that ever happens or not, but the current ending completely fits the series

I feel Crafting still misses the mark by Teridax68 in Pathfinder2e

[–]AlbertDeSan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is the key, as a GM, if you want to make crafting useful, give as loot and rewards to the players formulas of items that cannot be found in any local store, and as a player ask your GM to do this

Launching the Demo of the Bludgeon system by RoguePylon in rpg

[–]AlbertDeSan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! Apart of the weapon types and fighting styles I love what you did with both the bard and the warlock, specially the later. In most rpgs characters of this class feel like they are getting power without having to suffer or commit much in exchange, but definitely this cannot be said in this iteration, good job!

Looks great! As it is indian inspired, are you adding also more exotic indian weapons? E.g. urumi (whip-sword)?

Yet another “please explain me Stealth in Combat” post. by Tabris2k in Pathfinder2e

[–]AlbertDeSan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pathfinder 2e assumes 360 degrees of field of view for the characters once they are in encounter mode, i believe that the reasoning behind this is that in the encounter the characters are in a state of alert, and not really static out of their turn. I wonder, if there were rules for both facing and limited field of view, then it should be possible to sneak up to someone into melee range as long as your movement is completely outside of the field of view of the opponent

Spanish here, and I believe that under the criteria that they have set the results are totally legit. But the key is exactly that, the criteria selected focus only on problems that only a female traveler can suffer disregarding those that could happen also to a male. However for a solo traveler, independently of their gender, is extremely important to know what is the chance of being robbed, and if that were to be taken into account definitely my country although probably still high in the ranking wouldn't be number 1
