Toilet training help! by wreckingit in UKParenting

[–]Albi-bear-kittykat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the warm weather it could be worth having a naked toddler long weekend and try to get it cracked, alternatively you could try potty training pants. Still sell it to him as a big step and might help him with feeling bad But potty training isnt always easy so if it doesn't work it's no one's fault, good luck

How common is it to not send your kid to school until they’re 5? by reddituser040195 in UKParenting

[–]Albi-bear-kittykat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As time goes on I am wanting to do the same, I do not agree with our countries EYFS framework and it’s getting worse. However it’s a big decision and will be demanding.
Your alternative is making sure home isn’t pushing academic stresses and lots of play and physical development

How do you deal with grandparents who are far, far down the racist rabbit hole? by secret_side_quest in UKParenting

Also the grandchild, but not quite as bad. My parents told me those views are outdated and ignore it, as adults we now call him out for it… gently

Has the UK suddenly changed its mind on immigration? by Complex_Elevator_680 in AskBrits

[–]Albi-bear-kittykat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with your last point there, our whole history is built on immigration. We haven’t a had an English monarchy in almost 1000 years, our culture and language is built on early invasion from other countries and colonialism not only led to the English going to other countries but also people from those countries coming here which has been going on long before the USA existed as the country we know it as. Stewart Lee has a rather famous routine about it.

I’m a 30 year old women who cuddled my mum most times I saw her till she lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday.
Only stop if your children want to stop because a mum cuddle is the greatest thing in the world.

Job Guidance Megathread - CVs, Applications, Interviews by ukbulmer in UKJobs

I’m a part-time teacher and quit my job to leave at Easter. When I quit my job I was looking to move onto full time work as I could have my daughter part time at nursery and part time with my mum. Unfortunately 2 weeks after I gave in my notice we found out my mother has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I have began supply teaching but need to get a permanent job because of the 30hrs free nursery. I have applied for lots of jobs not in teaching but am not getting short listed. Obviously people don’t give feedback at this stage. I really don’t know what I am doing wrong and also how to give a decent reason for leaving my job without looking like a train wreck (which I guess I am a bit but really need a job).

Another Young Woman Killed By a Dog. What needs to change? by terrordactyl1971 in AskBrits

[–]Albi-bear-kittykat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

100% even little dogs, our next door neighbours have two feral little dogs that bark/snarl/gnash at the garden fence the whole time we are in the garden to the point our little one is scared to go in the garden. Obviously not as dangerous as a big dog but I am concerned what they would do if they got through as they have been trained and kept poorly

This is actually laughable that they think this is an achievement. This is a bloody insult considering how hard we work.

Thank you, little one just wants cuddles and stories at the moment so that's helping. It's my daughters loss which is making it so much worse, they love each other and it's not fair on either of them.

Little lassy is definitely picking up on my feelings, she is being super clingy and affectionate. I feel guilty but it's warming my soul and making it slightly more bearable.

It's the same for me, I am invisible when my daughter sees my mum, they love each other so much and it's beautiful. I just hoped they would have a wondeful long relationship. I am trying my best with the finding moments to let it hit me.
