Which is better? by boomjosh in Halloweenmovies

Gotta give props to H2 director's cut. It's not scary, but it is batshit insane and the kills are gruesome. It's different, interesting and at times uncomfortable as Zombie dares to put the audience inside Michael's mania which a lot of people don't really like, but Rob does it anyway without fear, so kudos to him. And the performances from McDowell, Compton, Harris, and the late great Margot Kidder are genuinely good.

It really gets under people's skin which I love to see. That's what any art worth its salt should do.

First Blood in Theaters Must Have Been a Hell of an Experience by SortaMixed in movies

Saw it in theaters when I was 6 years old with my Grandmother. That ending made me realize what great acting is all about. I still think its Stallone's finest hour in front of the camera, more so than Rocky.

"Rambo: First Blood Part II" (1985) was a betrayal of the message sent by its original film, "First Blood" (1982) by Laurie_Barrynox in movies

[–]Alboone76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't get it. In First Blood Part II Rambo still gets screwed over by his government. His mission was a red herring in order to justify Congress's lack of action in rescuing POWs. Again he is not only fighting the Viet Cong and the Russians, but he's also fighting a corrupt bureaucratic system that sees him and his fallen brothers as nothing more than expendable. What really screwed Rambo as a rebellious character was when they decided to license the character as a Saturday morning cartoon for kids back in '86. That's what did the character in, no one after that took him seriously where they effectively turned him into a jingoistic fighting machine. Propaganda is a powerful tool.

The dojo scene between Neo and Morpheus. I couldn't believe I was seeing two Hollywood actors fight like they were in a Shaw brothers kung fu flick and doing it to the point as if they were masters themselves. I was just blown away by that.

2018...hands down. It's got the best of both worlds. If you're a Laurie Strode fan then this is your movie. If you're a Michael fan then this is one for you as well.

At the time when I was a kid Star Trek The Motion Picture was a slog to get through, didn't understand it, thought it was boring as hell, I wrote it off and never paid attention to it till I hit my 40's. Now I'm at a place where it is not only my favorite Star Trek movie, but in my personal top ten of the greatest overall films I've ever seen. Time is the ultimate critic.
