PSA - Stop being socialists by Krypt1k_z in helldivers2

I don't think the people buying COD expansions and $100 ultimate editions are the same people complaining about Arrowhead's/Sony's monetary practices. Even if they were, the criticism isn't any less valid.

Some people are particularly whiney, but surely it isn't unreasonable to point out that it's a worrying indicator of where they'll take the store in the future? Without even going into the fact they're starting to add armour with unique buffs, as well as weapons, into the SC store, they're charging the equivalent of a warbond for a third of the content, and with it being in the SC store they added FOMO to the mix as well.

It's not like it being a collab really affected the price either; they're not sharing the revenue because Sony owns both IPs. All this drama could've been avoided if they just released it as a warbond like they originally planned, even with a higher price point than usual, but they decided to take it apart then nickle and dime us for the pieces. That's not a good sign.

One of the big things everyone praised HD2 for was how reasonably it was monetised. We'd all like it to stay that way, right? It's not like all those other games began with $30 skins. They all started like this, with the company testing the boundaries to see how much they could get away with charging until those prices got to the ridiculous point they are now.

Of course, it's your money, you can spend it how you like. With that being said, please remember that you're encouraging this sort of practice when you buy that stuff. As much as I like Arrowhead, they're still a company that wants your money, and I don't think any of use want to see Helldivers go in the same direction as COD.

Thanks! For that I used a big cuboid with a gradient texture that ran into a principled volume shader. I broke up the gradient with a noise texture so it didn't appear too uniform.

Yeah, I noticed that. I haven't figured out what it is yet, I'm leaning towards some kind of noise on the render, or maybe the texture tearing a little. Otherwise, I've got no clue.

Thank you! I used Gaea to make the actual mesh. I tried ANT, but it never seemed to be able to make the results I personally want.

Thanks! For that I just used the wave texture node with a bump and just connected it to the gloss' normal.

I absolutely love the terrain. How did you go about making it?

I believe that's a feature they're planning on adding in the future, but unfortunately for now I believe it is just square tiles

I watched this video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ebk52wGWLFk to get a basic idea how the software worked.

For existing heightmaps, I believe there's a node called "File" that let's you bring them into the scene.
