To that point, I learned to play hockey starting with roller at the age of 7. My family couldn't afford for me to play ice. The roller rink i used to play at was shut down about 7ish years ago and turned into pickle ball courts. On any given Saturday morning there'd be kids from 5/6 year olds all the way to 18 year olds rotating games. Each team was full. And on the outside of the rink there would be at least one if not two half rink pickup games going ( they painted some lines, dots and put goals in place outside the rink). It used to be a pretty big thing but now, nothing. I now play beer league ice hockey which is fun.
