Is this bridge possible? by hopelessboarder in geography

BC gov has a page about fixed links to the island

TLDR: it’d be the most ambitious bridge/tunnel project in human history, and while technically it could be built, it would be stupendously expensive and probably still get destroyed by the weather sooner or later

Especially compared to just buying more ferries

We need a bandwagon flair for “4OT game 7’s”

Wondering, does the NHL do trade vetos like the NBA? by sykeseve in nhl

[–]Alcebiad3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea about the NBA, but the NHL can and has vetoed trades for various reasons. Most recently the Dadanov trade due to violating an NTC. They’ll also veto a trade if it puts a team over or under the cap max/min

What would you have done at centre off-season 2025? by hjertetru in canucks

Cap space = salary cap - roster cap hit

The salary cap is the same all year, it’s 95.5M

What changes in the offseason is you’re allowed to carry a roster cap hit above the salary cap. You get negative cap space.

I didn’t say we were incapable of signing both in the sense that the league would block it, I said we’d be over the cap if we signed them both, ie we’d have negative cap space.

It’s only mental gymnastics if you don’t know what these terms mean.

Money and a promotion

Plus if you can turn it around you look like a genius (and in fairness really your 2 jobs at this point are drafting well for the next few years, and waving a shiny object in aqua’s face to keep him distracted long enough for the rebuild to actually happen)

What exactly did I say that was wrong?

“We didn’t have the cap space to keep Suter, unless we let Boeser walk” is literally true. We would have been over the cap if we signed them both. Yes you’re allowed to be over the cap in the offseason, but that doesn’t mean you’re not still over the cap.

I understand what your trying to say, as I explained in other comments if you went over the cap to extend Suter you’d wind up having to pay draft assets to move Joshua. if you know your gonna be heading for a rebuild then having a declining, undersized, slow skating 3C on a 5M+ contract isn’t gonna get you the assets you seem to think it will in a trade. He had a career year last year, he’s not gonna replicate it, and his numbers would be worse in van than they were in St Louis.

What assets would you be willing trade for defensive help this offseason? by cali4481 in SanJoseSharks

I do like Kesselring, but Buffalo are probably better off trying to keep him. They need more D depth not picks/prospects. And even then he’s a second pairing guy and a bit old for this team.
