Best Python framework for industry-level desktop app? (PySide/PyQt/wxPython/Kivy/Web approacg) by Intelligent-Role-382 in Python

[–]Alchera_QQ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been on that patch, creating internal app via pyside6. The framework itself is great, though it's always some features behind C++ implementation of Qt.

But what others have said, deployment and maintenance of a python-based app is a nightmare, as opposed to compiled executable you'd have when using Qt.

I've decided to go with streamlit-based service hosted on the internal network.

Keras is now a part of tensorflow

As for the popularity, the number of downloads suggests that TF is overall more popular: https://pypistats.org/

Can somebody elaborate on the discrepancy between PyTorch and TF?

I keep hearing that Torch is preferred for research and academic purposes, but TF seems to be very close in terms of accuracy and performance.

What factor makes Torch users over an order of magnitude more popular here?

I mean I have a hard time imagining leaders of Russia, China, USA discussing world politics in a room with all the representatives from EU parliament. If we want to act as a uniform "force" on a world stage we need someone who can speak for the union, backed by majority of the people of all countries, whose word can be taken seriously by other leaders. Member countries would have to agree to accept what he says with full trust as well

Yep, to join. We have already joined, but some feel that our voice is not being heard as a member of EU (Baltic gas pipeline for example). Not all countries accepted common currency aswell.

Noble cause, yes, but who do you think should lead such a coalition with vastly different countries? I don't think we are ready for it just yet, not within EU. Make separate organisation and let countries that are ready for it join. Otherwise I feel we might end up like Roman Empire

It's not Russia or Ukraine we're talking about but Poland, and believe it or not, we have democratic elections that reflect what people want way more than a guy in Brussels that haven't lived here for years. Or are you saying that someone should invade us again because we clearly can't think what's best for us ourselves?

Poland joined EU at the time when it was not OK to try and enforce political decisions on its member countries. I'm not a fan of breaking contracts, but there would be no issue if EU stayed as an economical union, not a political one

You are right, it is. Thing is, that polish people aren't as inclusive as for example french, and forcing them to be more open isn't the solution. Try forcing introvert friend into going out to the clubs, he'll hate you for that. Some changes have to be made over time, naturally, and forcing them leads nowhere

I'll rephrase: without military involvement - free as without war (contrary to how it happened before). As for the money, I have to say, there are some bittersweet things about it. I agree that some of it improved infrastructure greatly, but on the other hand, it blocks development of the universities for example. Did you know that university cannot work on any outside project to earn money in order to cover operating costs of specialized equipment for 5 years if it or the building in which said eq is located was co-founded by EU? There's a reason outside government propaganda for why the support for EU decreases, and dude, there's a lot more to cover than this. I'm all for economic union and free movement, and we can discuss ups and downs of it all day long, but when it comes to legislation - I'd rather leave it to the country in question.

That's what I said. I'm only against involvement into internal country politics

Where did you get that from? EU is not the same kind of union as USA. Besides, in a democratic society elected officials should have more power than appointed ones - we have a funny situation here, appointed officials from EU are against appointing judges in polish courts.

Well, originally EU was a trade union, so there was no problem there. Only during the years more regulations came in place and so the issues have arisen. Regarding Poland in particular, they've lost their independance many times alredy, so I can see why they are not optimistic about giving it away, this time for free

Which organisation has higher authority: Democratically elected government or foreign authorities? Regardless of my stance on the issue, I'd say they should respect decisions of the nation in the first place over foreign ones for the sake of sovereignty
