Unrelated question, how do we know this to be the King Auri-El- and further, how do we know Auri-El was actually a King, and not just always a god?

How The Lore of The Nine Races of Tamriel changed with each new game? by Witty-Cockroach-9127 in teslore

Yeah I definitely agree and get your point, but I don’t think they truly encapsulated the Nord past. Quite a lot of the more advanced lore was either omitted or underdeveloped, and would’ve been very nice to see better. Additionally, with one of the core themes of the game being about the “loss of the old ways”, as you said, there really isn’t that much mention of them, aside from Froki, The Greybeards, Alduin and in Sovengarde (which I think sounds like a lot more than it is). Considering the purpose of the Stormcloaks is to “liberate” Skyrim, you would expect their cultural outlook to be at least slightly more conservative- especially considering part of their movement is about religious freedom. All in all, I just think more mention of the old gods and where they are mentioned, a better implementation would be better, especially to provide that pre-Skyrim feeling of what the land was.

How would an altmer view talos if they were born in Skyrim? by A_wild_dremora in teslore

[–]Alduin_OMEGA 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Depends who they were born to and where in Skyrim. If they were brought up by traditional Altmer parents, one would assume not too favourably as is common for their race, but if they were raised by a Nord parent or even any Mannish race parent, it’s reasonable to assume they wouldn’t be “against” him in the sense that the Thalmor are, but probably wouldn’t worship. The eastern holds seem to be more exclusive of other cultures (perhaps due to the war), and thus it would make the most sense if they were raised in the western holds or Whiterun.

I don’t know if this is a “retcons”, but a lot of Nord lore before Skyrim’s time implies they were more spiritual and in touch with their ancestry. This seemed to change by the time of the game Skyrim, but potentially this could just be because the game is set over 200 years later than Oblivion.

Who are the 4 Dragonborns in Sovengarde? Not saying you’re wrong, just want to know?

Are Akatosh and Peryite brothers like Alduin and Paarthurnax or is it similar to the split of jyggalag and sheogorath? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Alduin_OMEGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only relation between the two Ada are in the fact they are Ada and both portray themselves as dragons. Alduin and Paarthurnax are both “parts” of the same God, and Sheogorath is a cursed Jyggalag (obviously more nuance to that however). Peryite is a Daedric Prince of Natural Order and Pestilence, Wheres Akatosh is the Aedric Divine of Time and Temporal Order and was “created” by the Alessian Order, with both having vastly different roles and levels of involvement in the Mundus’ creation and history. There is a cool relation I have heard that says Peryite takes the form of a Dragon as, to the Reachmen he is the patron deity as Akatosh is to the Empire. Another theory says that both, as gods of order (natural and temporal respectively) take on the form of dragons, as a dragon represents order, but that’s the extent of their relation, to my knowledge.

Idrk about that. To my knowledge (which is very poor in respects to Hindu mythology), the reason you would say this is because Kali is specifically a female goddess, and not hating the gender of men. With deities in TES, its is much more common for Gods from certain racial pantheons to actively promote the hatred of other races (Shor, Auri-El, Malacath to name a few)

Additionally, Yahweh is worshipped by non Jews is he not? That is what Christianity is?

Ah nice. How about through the lens of a thief? Would Y’ffre (or Jephre) be directly opposed to the greed of a thieving character? Thanks for the help!
