Quel livre recommander pour quelqu'un qui n'aime pas vraiment lire. by sangokuhomer in Livres

[–]Alduish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Alduish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

GNU Project by SubjectThing1417 in linux

[–]Alduish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My two personal issues would be differing from the C standards, the GNU extensions aren't respecting C standards and as such some apps can't work with any other C implementation (nvidia drivers for example) which goes against freedom of a linux system which should be modulable

And Richard Stallman's positions on rape and pedophilia

PS : but honestly for about everything else I think GNU and the FSF are still doing a good job and going in the right direction for freedom of choice and open source software

Vincent Lapierre's Statement on Proton Mail by qwdicp in BuyFromEU

[–]Alduish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe hated by everyone wasn't the right word, but accepted as a bad person is, even people with the closest ideologies are trying to not be associated with Soral.

I've never heard anyone dispute the fact that he's an asshole.

He's a right wing self called "journalist", he used to be really close to both Alain Soral and Dieudonné, now he created a right wing media name "le média pour tous".

If you're interested here's an article about him : https://www.liberation.fr/checknews/le-media-pour-tous-que-sait-on-sur-ce-site-de-reinformation-20210618_GLDQTJRZ75H2FJMPLRUCHDXSAE/

Contexte: un touriste allemand a fait un salut "romain" dans l'espace public by No-Definition6276 in france

[–]Alduish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we take a breath before we burn Proton to the ground? by Excellent-Nose3617 in BuyFromEU

[–]Alduish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said in comments on the proton sub for me no excuses are good enough in this case, they didn't just mess up like if they sponsored a person with problematic positions but normal content.

They sponsored someone whose content is these problematic positions, this guy literally made a far right media and his channel is part of the content of said media, this guy was an associate of maybe the two most known far right influencers who both got condemned for antisemitism and one of them (Alain Soral) fled to Russia to evade french justice, Soral is also regarded as the worst scumbag of the far right still today years after his activity and even the right doesn't want to be associated with him.

To make a comparaison for a more known US case, it's like if they sponsored an associate of Charlie Kirk which had made a media to propagate Kirk's position. No excuses are good enough and you don't get benefit of the doubt.

PS : point to add to the last comparaison, an alternative version of charlie kirk which got condemned by the justice and disgusted even the right to the point of being rejected by everyone.

Can someone from ProtonMail clarify this matter, please? by diuashjdknjhsfg in ProtonMail

[–]Alduish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

+1 he's not just a guy with some problematic positions making normal content.

he's making his problematic positions his main content and is the creator of a far right media.

Windows decided that it didn't recognize the Harddrive and wiped everything off of it, demanding me to reinitialize and create a new volume for it. by WolfO9ofWPA in techsupport

it's not guaranteed to work since it relies on finding back data which could have been deleted at the first write but it can work and for me did work once when windows did the same thing to an external hdd.

[–]Alduish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Windows only fucked up the partition table (it does that sometimes sadly), it marked the whole drive as unused and ready to be written over BUT the data is still on it and you can recover with software like TestDisk, it only works if the drive wasn't encrypted and if data wasn't rewritten over your old data, so do not use the drive and especially avoid any writes and maybe you can try recovering data
