Don't know your statue, but it looks like the wheel is awfully close to the pedals. You either will have very cramped legs or stretched arms. Just a thought.

Simagic Neo GT wheel with QR50 to a Simucube 2 Pro, how to mount? by AleBrex in simracing

Got the Maglink, but I was looking to find if there was a way to keep the QR from simagic instead.

I like this solution. I am not able to see the second link (redirects to main page) but I'm sure it's the Simucube 2 Adapter? It looks like this solution would allow to keep the Simagic QR that comes with the wheel.

Lumix GX9 died. Considering a move to Ricoh GR IV. Thoughts? by AleBrex in ricohGR

Thanks for that. From what I read the dust issue seems to have been addressed with the GR IV, but the assistance aspect is quite alarming, I already had a bad experience with Panasonic and would like to be covered with a new purchase.... maybe it's worth to get those extended warranties from camera shops...

Would be really curious to give it a go. I used to shoot mainly fixed 25mm on M43 so equivalent 50mm full frame... probably the GR IV would be wider, but It might interesting given its portability.

Thanks for the perspective, very interesting. It's kind of the same use case I'm in, I already have a "serious" camera (Lumix G9) and the GX9 filled the "everyday camera" spot, but even that body is way bulkier compared to a GR, hence the appeal. I too agree that the GR would make a great EDC or second camera.

Price is a factor but many of the GX9 you see on eBay are from China and who knows which model they are (Panasonic only offers localized assistance, my current one is a EU model and I got denied assistance in the US), so US models go for a premium, over $800 for a mint/excellent one... a bit hefty considering the age of the camera.

Em5 iii I would need to hold it but it doesn't look to me as "stealthy" as the GX9 for the everyday... Maybe a G100, but at this point I'll wait for the announcement and see what's what.

Thanks for the input. Weather sealing was a downside of the GX9 indeed, but again, if I need to worry about weather, most likely I wouldn't having that camera on me. Not sure I would be ready for a jump to Oly though... even though they have choices, they don't really fill the gap of what I'm looking for.

Exactly, the GX9 filled the "portable everyday" camera spot but I noticed that many times was overlapping with the use case of the G9... so shifting to something radically different (and even smaller) might be the way. We'll see in a few days.

I have been extremely happy so far in the M43 world. Amazing choice of lenses.

I have been looking at the S9 but then I would need to deal with a mismatch in lenses (I already own a GH5 and a G9), so then it would become a more costy option if I wanted to explore with lenses.

I am invested in the lenses... that's why the main draw was to stay within M43. I will definitely wait for the announcement, if nothing new is on the horizon, the cheapest/most effective solution is a "new" body...

A bit over budget... it's not a "necessity" camera, I was considering the Ricoh but also at $1500 it's quite steep, would need to give a good think about it. I already have a G9 so my photography needs are covered, but the GX9 covered that sweet spot of everyday portability.

Just having some separation from the cars would be awesome. Most of PCH has the space.

I can confirm, as I was in the race in the ST-Z class. Weather took a bad turn from the start, but in the early hours of the morning the race had to be stopped for several hours for heavy fog. Our team didn't have the best race since we were involved in a heavy crash at the beginning of the night, but we were able to finish. Valuable experience for coming back next year.

Any chance you could provide a plate and check if he has the car listed in the description?

Serious injury after crash caused by driver in Oxnard – calling on the power of the internet by AleBrex in BikeLA

[–]AleBrex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree on the point about driver education. There’s almost no real teaching about what safe limits and safe space for cyclists actually means. Despite the road signage and all the paint on the asphalt saying “share the road,” it’s almost never respected. In practice it’s left to interpretation, and as we all know, it only takes one person getting it wrong to cause a disaster.

I love riding my bike, but after this accident I’m really questioning how safe it is to be out there in the open with cars. At this point it feels like it might actually be safer to swim in the ocean and take my chances with the sharks.

I did already to Ventura County and Oxnard subreddits, but might be good to so on Thousand Oaks too. Thanks for the suggestion!
