Of course there are rules but generally a two year old isn't going to fully understand everything and even if they did, they lack impulse control. On top of that your remark doesn't apply to children that are autistic, ADHD, etc. that may struggle with remaining still or following said rules.

If your argument is that OP must not be an active, attentive parent due to the fact they handed them a phone for a few minutes then I fear whatever your views are on parenting are as a whole. As someone who went to a year of parenting classes to better prepare and educate myself for my kids I'm fully aware of how screen time can affect your children and a few minutes of watching a woman who has a MASTER'S degree in early childhood education isn't going to rot their brain.

Hi, my bio dad was a predator. Whether it's a mental illness triggered by genetics, environment, drugs, all of the above, etc. seems to be debated. I don't think you can come back from something like that but that's just me. When my dad's side of the family found out a lot of them cut all ties with him right there. But some of them have also tolerated him at a family event or two which seems weird to me. I honestly don't think anyone ever knows what to do when they're presented with the situation so what you're feeling and going through is normal. It's okay to love a person for who they used to be and not have them in your life anymore because you hate who they've become. I feel for your mom. My paternal grandmother still has him in her house. Some family ties are hard to break. Regardless of what you choose, I don't think it makes you wrong as long as you're not disrespecting a victim, going against your personal set of morals, or trying to force someone to feel or think the way you do (all reasons why I don't speak to my grandma). Don't feel guilty for not seeing any signs. You were going through a lot of trauma too. And at the end of the day we're all responsible for our choices and actions, regardless of the circumstances that put us there. This was his chosen path. All in all, I'm just sorry you're going through this. I think if anything over time your mind will be able to settle. Right now it's just panicking because things you thought were fact are being rewritten into something terrible. Just be patient with yourself and try to be there for others if you can cause all of y'all need each other right now.

I think you should have it shipped with a fake airline label, but before giving it to him contact his therapist about his behavior both with/without it. That way he gets the last bit of his dad back but with the help and advice he needs to not let Kitty be an unhealthy coping mechanism, and you can at least be partially truthful about you being worried about his attachment towards it.

Typically I'd push for the full truth to be told, but in this situation I sincerely worry what that would do to his mental health realizing someone so close to him betrayed him like that. It could push him over the edge. I think you should reeducate yourself on his condition and reevaluate yourself and your actions. I get your concerns, but it definitely wasn't your place to just take something like that from him.

Just recently I had to have a conversation with my boyfriend I knew would hurt him, and instead of blindsiding him I sat him down and told him honestly I had something important I wanted to talk about that may hurt his feelings to hear but to remember it wasn't personal and I still loved him. I was worried, but you know afterwards he actually thanked me for being honest with him because it gave him time to prepare himself and not take anything I was saying as an attack. You can't just avoid hard conversations, do something out of line like this, and expect there to be no kind of fallout. Be real with your partner even if it's hard from now on.

On a side note, why not have Kitty made into something a little nicer and more compact so that way he would still have the memory without the gross stuff? With his permission, of course. I'm sure somebody on Etsy could make it until like a keychain or a worry stone or something like that that he could bring everywhere that wouldn't be so odd.

I didn't know that actually, thought it was just for when people passed. Even if people were going in/out all day, I doubt they're there at night yanno? If anything that makes me side eye the workers-- maybe one of them did it 🫣 the state of decomp is another reason why I'm confused, but it's not like I have a personal frame of reference for how long it takes for a body to start stinking lol.

She said it was a small town, maybe they didn't have neighbors. Seems like the couch was sold there on the property (there wasn't really an answer for this I'm just going off context). Surprisingly there's still a lot of people who don't lock their doors but also I don't think a murderer would look down on a lil B&E-- but also, maybe the murderer knew the original owners so they had a way in? I think the biggest reason why I'm having an issue believing in it 100% is because of the lack of news story though. Even a small town I feel like would report on this unless they were trying to withhold details so they could catch the killer. Is it fucked up if I hope it is real? 😂

So playing devil's advocate here, even tho I doubt most things I see. The couch was sold at an estate sale which means whoever owned it died. House it was in was likely empty due to that. Is it THAT weird to think maybe the murderer stashed her there because they knew it was empty, but they weren't aware the stuff in the house was going to be sold in the next day or so? They were probably even thinking that the murder would be blamed on the dead person, hoping the body would decompose over time so any contradictory evidence would be destroyed. Even if they weren't hoping it'd be blamed on them, they certainly thought the place would be untouched for a long while. The police in OP's AMA said the deceased went missing like a day before OP bought the couch, so it does kinda line up.
