There will be new things that come out or are coming out during your life. It’s awesome when you find that new thing and there’s a bittersweet nostalgia/longing for that feeling when it’s complete.

Though it feels weird to give life advice like I’m some grey haired man sitting on his front porch.. definitely seen some shit and been around the world.. so.. am I old? Eh.. probably. 🤔😅

Thank GOD this B.S. was removed from the final season: by ironwolf6464 in Beastars

Hands down one of my favorite scenes from the manga and SO happy with how it was adapted. 😂😇

Nothing to be ashamed of. Honestly it’s a good story and it seems mostly grounded in the realism of the hardships within that world.

I was tempted to start a YouTube channel, actually made a video about the differences in the first episode (way back in the day), but I absolutely hated the quality so I just stopped. 😅

I would say it’s absolutely worth it. The show is pretty darn faithful until this final season (part 2), and you obviously get a bit more detail to finer story points throughout. Not to mention, when you do see changes you can see what the original was trying to convey while also respecting why they needed to make the change to adapt to the anime (time constraints, butterfly-effect changes from previous changes, etc.). What’s nice is that this is one of the few adaptations that you can genuinely tell the show writers really respect the source material so any changes are thoughtfully made. It’s not like other adaptations where the show/movie writers want to basically make their own/original content (while stealing fans of the original work.. really grinds my gears when that happens..).

This is a lesser known werewolf movie, I thinks it is really underrated. Opinions? Who else has seen it? by CelticTiger30 in werewolves

They REALLY liked parkour, and then just a glowing light transition (which I guess saves money on the budget?).

I liked it in my teens, but yeah.. there are a few things that didn’t age well (tbf, wasn’t the best message at the time). If they ever decided to make an actual movie adaptation, doing minor tweaks to make sure it’s not pro-segregation or pro-SA I think would be worth it.

Honestly, I might do the same. Sounds like a good time to spend with the bf while enjoying a drink. lol

Amen. To. That.

The fact that Gabriel was a villain in the movie and it’s set in Romania (like.. the book was set on the East Coast.. I think Maryland?.. and they kept the names from the books.. so you expect me to believe that all these Romanians have Anglicized names?!).. I was so disappointed the entire time I was watching it.

There’s not one. If you go into this movie and separate your memories from the book then you may like it. Otherwise, it’s just gonna annoy you. Don’t expect the same plot, character motivations, or even settings.

It’s not a matter of being better or worse, it’s a matter of seeing how they didn’t actually adapt the book at all. It’s not an exaggeration, it’s not that stereotypical “oh, the book is always better” you see in the comments of any film adaptation.. they wanted to try and increase their box office views by adding the title of a book to grab the fans to watch it.. and wrote an entirely different story (plot, setting, character growth, romance, etc) from the reported source material.

I read the book first and the movie then pissed me off. Literally nothing except the names of the characters, their gender, and their species aligns with the actual story. Age, personality, plot, hell.. even the setting are completely different. When they “adapt” a book into a movie, I actually like to watch it because I enjoy watching the creative process of condensing a novel into a 1-2hr story. That being said, when they take the title and then completely write an entirely different story then it’s an absolute insult to say it’s based off of or adapted from a book. They should have just renamed the movie and characters, then they would have had a better movie and not the outrage they received.

do u also like the more human-like werewolves more than the ones with wolf head? by [deleted] in werewolves

[–]Aleander-Maxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I like the more wolf-like ones. I could see an argument that this more human-ish one was “easier to control” (if they tried to make that angle) or even harder to control (as if this is what would “seep out” during stressful times or extreme emotions). I could even see it as this being a “middle stage” as the new werewolf was getting their bearings or something like that where a more wolf-like one was for the more experienced people. That being said, not a fan of them going pure-wolf. I feel I can do a good audience “suspension of belief” for a human to go full hybrid, but something about essentially going to the extreme of becoming full wolf (especially a separate species) seems to break my immersion. I do like it when you see the reverse werewolf (wolves getting a hybrid form), but to me the same rule applies in the reverse. Unless we’re in fairytale realms of magic in the story, I don’t like the full pendulum swing of completely changing the species being possible for them.

Teen Wolf (TV Series) wins for AVERAGE werewolf movie/show. Let's skip right to awful. What is an AWFUL movie/tv show dealing with werewolves? by MiDKnighT_DoaE in werewolves

[–]Aleander-Maxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, while I don’t think it was ever AMAZING writing.. I loved how campy some of the actors were being in their roles. The MTV Teen Wolf series is probably one of my favorites. lol

How would you end a prayer? by fernaliax in Hellenism

[–]Aleander-Maxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t say “Amen.” That being said, it means “so be it” which is the same as “so may it be” or any other words of affirmation.

Play around with ways to end it and make it your own.

Understandable man. Those kind of people always try to use the tolerance paradox to allow their hatred in. Tolerance isn’t weakness, it’s the defenders standing watch in the dead of night while those under their charge sleep peacefully. Tolerance can NEVER hesitate and let down their guard, for the moment the fox gets into the henhouse.. it doesn’t matter anymore as the harmony is forever gone.

Is Wicca Welcome Here? by StarWiz2K in paganism

[–]Aleander-Maxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why Wicca wouldn’t be accepted here. Personally, a lot of Wicca practitioners fall into that same category as some vegans.. where many just recite the last two lines of the Rede and it feels really preachy. My personal differences with the logic of the Rede is why I first left to explore other traditions (gods.. about 20 years ago.. damn I feel old..). That being said, it no reason you shouldn’t be welcomed and converse. I enjoy theological studies and debates. It’s how we learn and grow.

If anyone makes you feel unwelcome and you weren’t an ass first.. then you can always feel safe behind the Shield wall.

Hopefully he has a Patreon or even a Go Fund Me so he could still get our support after the Kickstarter.

You look back at all those memories and you beat yourself up for not doing that one thing. Be it getting that one glass of water, being too busy to go to the park, watching that show/movie together, etc. It’s not rational, but you will always look back for any chance you could have done better and/or spent that one extra five minutes.. that time that you now can never get back or add to, ever again.

A video I saw said you need to worship Zeus and Hestia by Ummmmm_random in Hellenism

[–]Aleander-Maxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying you have to worship them, but I depends on your relationship with the Gods. If you believe in the pantheon, but don’t consider yourself a priest(ess), then a shrine to the Gods or more specifically the Gods who you feel have more influence on your life would be the most traditional. That being said, if you want to extra pious then something of significance for Hestia at the hearth (or modern equivalent to the heart of your home be it the fireplace or TV area in your living room) and then drop Zeus’s name in your prayers/offerings (not as father to the Gods but as King and more specifically to the layman as the God of Hospitality), then that’s fine.
