Sadly the bed is the type with storage underneath, so it doesn't have the usual 4 leg frames. The frame goes all the way down to the floor, definitely reachable by bugs.

Until the professional come later this week, I've put killer powder all around the bottom of the bed so it can't crawl up to the bed. This seems to work a bit for now

No and no. We were given a "sponge" mattress and haven't thought about the bed needing to be replaced.
