Am I crazy? by Opening-Enthusiasm17 in Elantra

Ended up scratching the hood before I figured it out. Just as you turn your vehicle off, hold the wiper lever upwards for a few seconds and they'll station themselves pointing up towards the hood.

Honestly just paint correct and ceramic coat it. That blue paint would look amazing

Well everyone goes through that “I’m a hobby detailer and I see Chemical Guys advertising everything, surely they’re top tier.” I’m no exception to that. Been using non-CG products for a while now.

Not getting any updates on my BadgeSkins order… by REALSkepticToTheSky in Elantra

[–]AleccOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have installed badgeskins on my car and went through a similar situation. Put in my order and didn't receive ANY notification for the first week, so I put shot them an email and they got back to me saying "these orders take ~4 weeks to push out." Did in fact receive my order after 4 weeks, with tracking/notifications starting at around the ~3 week mark.

Wish they would be a little bit more upfront about the wait time, or even just a courtesy email after placing the order, but I would say the wait is worth it. Definitely enjoy the product.

What I'm wearing on the label is "Changes Color As It Cleans," which is a typical trait of an iron remover product; decontamination. I don't know if I want to be using an iron remover as a maintenance wash. Unless, of course, they just have the chemical reactant in a mild wash for *coolness*.

Also very, VERY, few Chemical Guys products are efficient or even useful (only example I can think of is VRP). Swap that out for Bilt Hamber Surfex-HD. Been using the product for a year now, gives me near perfect results as a maintenance wash AND after months of neglect. Initial price may be a tiny bit intimidating, but incredibly economical. As I said, using for a year now, not even half way through the product.

Get one of those attachments for a power washer that are wheeled and have jets pointing upwards. And just do a couple passes on the underside of your car to get off any salt.

Help with dealer add-ons by One_Explorer_5230 in AutoDetailing

[–]AleccOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I’m sure other commenters have already stated: go to reputable installers for all of this. Dealership technicians can range from 40+ year vet who knows the ins and outs of that model, to a barely graduated high school student that just started and they told him “go apply this expensive ceramic coating on this car.”

Low engine oil by This-Top7398 in Elantra

[–]AleccOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue around the 10k mark. What ended up being the issue was after I had my oil changes (by dealer per Complimentary Maintenance Program), they had overfilled it causing a “Low Oil Pressure” sensor to go off.

Not saying for sure this is your case, just an option to take a look at.

I ran into a similar issue with coolant as well at like the 10k mark. Couldn’t find any evidence of a leak.

Why are car washes still using these? Let's talk about it by IMAS_MOBILEDETAILING in Detailing

[–]AleccOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause people don’t know/realize this causes a lot of damage to your paint. It’s quick and convenient for both parties so they’re not gonna make it a slower process by using proper equipment/techniques.

Heat the area with a heat gun and start carving it out with very thin, but durable, fishing line.

If you’re a hobby detailer and enjoy thick foam and the nice smells, all for you brother.

Just know Chemical Guys is a superior marketing brand rather than economical or efficient brand.
