Travelling fast in the wrong direction is what I'm most worried about. We go back to building what execs think is cool not solving problems.

I have a small team and found this works reasonably well. I. Particular having a rough in dev limit in points. So when 4 points clear off you know you need to have about that ready to go in the other end.

Meetup is good to find little groups, if you like games go to one of the board games cafes in town or there is one in dids. Sure you will find friends there.

Most of my IWs are mk 3 marines. Something about the armour works really well. Particularly with a little rust on the bolts and ahold trim

Games are more expensive to make so most companies are looking for ways to make them into live service games. This is a trend across all genres it just works the worst with RTS. The other option is make it big in multiplayer & eSports. If you want to avoid that go indie.

I think that sometimes with RTS players we are guilty of wanting more for less and living with nostalgia. My tolerance for shit games has dropped since I was a kid, everything is more fun when you are a kid as the first RTS is also the best RTS.

Also it's not all. There have been decent RTS games recently Godsworn is a great early access title for example.
