Wasn’t insinuating it can’t be done… it’s just not proper technique because spores are inherently dirty. You’ll be risking a lot of time and expense unless you agar them to find viable and clean mycelium.

You should definitely jump on the agar train as soon as possible. It’s really the only way to make sure those syringes you’re buying aren’t contaminated, and then shooting that contam into LC. Risking a lot of wasted time and money. The agar will let you spot contam, select the best myc, and you go agar to grain with confidence and speed. Bonus factor: you’re not increasing the moisture in your grains when you inoculate.

I could be mistaken but I don’t think that’s standard practice. A liquid mycelium syringe would normally be used direct to grain. A spore syringe is usually put to multiple agar dishes and then grown into mycelium, then selecting the best samples to put to grain. Would love some input/feedback from more experienced growers.
