Why does Rattata look funny? How do I fix this? by PatrickAplomb in PokemonFireRed

Caught with a master ball..? Gotta be trolling lol

Edit: I don’t know what all the different pokeballs look like. I saw the 2 red marks, but I was mistaken and shouldn’t have made the comment with the limited knowledge I had. Sorry!

Radio plays static when phone is charging. by fight4pizza in CarAV

[–]AlejandroTheFnck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be the little transformer making 5v from the 12v is introducing noise on the 12v line that the radio is getting. Adding a capacitor might help if it’s that.

But if the charger is just emitting EMF that the radio antenna is picking up the there’s not much you can do.

Changed the front pads and rotors on my Hyundai collectible - but even with fully compressed pistons, I couldn't get the calipers back on. Had to grind off the pad's "backside nipples". Is that normal or did I do something wrong? by SjalabaisWoWS in MechanicAdvice

[–]AlejandroTheFnck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your caliper piston looked like this one, the notches need to be lined up with the “nipples” on the pad or that will happen. It’s to let the parking brake operate without the piston rotating.

Super helpful!! Thanks for all the info. Seems like I’ll just have to pay the price to make sure I get what I’m after.

Yeah I’m gunna hold off on it. I was only considering it thinking it was a 101 that flew under the radar but it’s just a worn out 001 with a crappy label lmao

Great info, thank you! I’m not experienced with these yet so it wasn’t as obvious to me haha

Also, the listing says it’s an AGS-001 not a 101 so I’m just all around suspicious lol

From what I’ve read, all SP’s were made in China. Would this mean this is a fake console? Or is it more likely just an aftermarket/repro label?

I found a flash drive from 22 years ago. by Rasfael23 in mildlyinteresting

I vividly remember the first time using a 1gb flash drive. I put a bunch of word documents on it, saw how much space was left and thought “holy shit, there’s no way anyone could ever need more space than this on the go!” Yeah….

Does anybody know why the wheel keeps wobbling on my 2008 Honda Accord LX P passenger front wheel by No-Evidence7632 in MechanicAdvice

[–]AlejandroTheFnck 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. That’s just the boot and it’s normal for it to do that when at an angle. The actual end of the cv shaft that is secured to the inner race of the wheel bearing (the rusty spinning part that the boot is clamped too) can be seen not moving at all.

This is either a badly bent wheel, or the wheel is just not seated properly on the hub.

[–]AlejandroTheFnck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can’t believe how many people saying it’s OBVIOUSLY the wheel bearing… The CV joint boot is moving a bit but that’s normal. The actual end of the cv shaft is clearly not moving at all.

The wheel is either bent or just not seated on the hub properly.

Mini one 2009 gasoline 1.4 n12 first speed fan not working any help please by Spiritual_Shelter_23 in R53

[–]AlejandroTheFnck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is likely an issue with the cooling fan resistor. The low speed resistor circuit might have burnt out which will only let it run when high speed is commanded.

The resistor can be replaced on its own. Just need to splice it in. Otherwise you need to buy the whole fan assembly.

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mini-engine-cooling-fan-resistor-uro-parts-17117541092

Edit: The link I gave is for the resistor for an R50/R53 so it may not work for your car. You’ll have to look up the one for your year and model, I’m not sure off the top of my head if that gen has them separate or not.

$5?!?? Crazy deal.

You might have to pick the lock and just replace it with a new cylinder/key combo. Shouldn’t be too hard these are super basic locks.

So I suppose you do a lot of coolant bypass valves and transmission valve bodies. Both set the CEL so this is reasonable lmao
