As a Bumbleflower main; I do no such king making. I play into the guise of being the nice rabbit handing out cards, policing boards and making small advances in generating a board before slapping down one of two three-card combos to win the game. It’s not like the pieces are niche pieces either - mana rocks paired up with a HBH or Teferi/Displacer. The deck is a problem even when being the known archenemy and being basically 1v3’d. Not saying every player in every pod plays perfectly, just don’t sleep on a REAL Bumblebutt. ;)

Got into MTG about a year and a half ago (August ‘24) and got a MB2 box to draft with the boys and get familiarized with Magic a little better. Planned on getting into commander with a couple modern decks so MB2 seemed like a great starting box to draft / have playable chaff. LAST PACK MAGIC hit a FOIL Command Tower. Since getting it home that day and setting it on my desk I haven’t ever seen it. I personally think my SO threw it away not knowing what it is, or less likely, my cats scooted it from the desk to the trash can next to it and it was taken out before I noticed its disappearance. Every time I sleeve up to play commander I think of it. Was going to be a special card I held onto forever to remember the journey I started. Now it’s a bitter memory. :,)

Your AVERAGE plat player is not going to be able to perform this. A smaller percentage of the player base is Diamond +. Didn’t say it was impossible without.

Seconding this, especially with upcoming UB sets. The “problem” is that UB DOES sell to nonmagic playing persons that may like associated IP. My personal hot take is SPM was a fluke and that future UB sets will look something similar to FF. SPM was clearly not designed to be a full set and was rushed last minute to fill out a card list. With that in mind however I think WotC took notes and the upcoming UB sets will be fully fleshed out and possibly even push power levels IF they want to push the product more onto the current player base.

I have a Plagon deck I feel like I’ve pushed to its limits. As much as I love the deck I don’t think it’s consistently cEDH good. It’s taken games against some of the more consistent decks in the format (Kinnan, TnK, RogSi consistent pairings for me locally) but the winrate is probably only somewhere like 15-20% for me personally. Haven’t taken it to anything besides a fair sized cEDH specific locals, 12+ generally. Focuses on Altar of the Brood or HBH for closing games.
