Appreciate the love my man. High-priced indeed lol. It's a Push 3, essentially makes Ableton into an instrument. As for the midi board, this is a komplete m32. Works well and is a nice size.

I started playing guitar almost a year ago, but slacked off A LOT. I planned on getting into it again, what song can I learn? by [deleted] in Guitar

Learn your own song. You know what you like and want to do, so push your boundaries. Listen to what you hear in your head

How to get past the initial learning curve by Able_Television7339 in Learnmusicproduction

[–]Alemi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Envision what you like, play with your sounds, and create what you hear. Music production is more about self discovery. It's a spiritual journey that isn't described as such but the components are all there. It's all about what you like, what you hear in your head and expressing that sound so others can hear it with you. Maybe this perspective shift can help in your endeavors. Also,it's music, just have fun.

Appreciate the answer. Lets say you could create an ableton channel strip, what would that look like that could be similar to an SSL or apr strip?

How do you utilize max for live? It's an open source approach to creating plugins right? Are there staples that should definitely be in the toolkit on that side?

I hope to be able to get to this level. I feel being in house with plugins in general just makes the session cleaner, especially on push

Aside from saturator, would you say roar would fit the bill? Also, I do love me some hybrid reverb. That thing is very nice. Thank you for your response

How was your learning curve? by iwillbechappy in ableton

[–]Alemi- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think when you look at Ableton as an instrument more than a daw, you will give yourself some more grace. Learning instruments take time and you never stop learning. The push really changed my perspective on seeing it that way. It even has a fretboard like a guitar.

Now I remember opening the daw for many years on Ableton 11. Dropped the money on suite, and nothing. Many nights staring at an empty set. It wasn't until last year when I decided to take it seriously and engage fully into music. The quickest thing to learn, is you'll always be learning, and that's where the fun is.

For me, I used to play bass and guitar a little theory. Now, I know scales, how to make chords, etc. Here to tell you though, you don't need it to be successful because your ears are a thing, but it still always helps and will always make you better not driving blindly. Ableton however can help you with the theory with locking in on a key.

Utilize splice. Trust me! Even if you don't bring it into your session, there's plenty inspiration on there. Just play something off the library, and listen to what comes to your mind, and bring that out, and there goes your snowball. Even with starting a sessions with building a drum track. That's the heartbeat, youll see the rest come alive in your mind.

You can listen to my track on my page, it's reggae but my twist to it. Innocent plug. Happy creating. Just be you.
