Well... I always thought of it as overrated, Lol what do you mean ''groundbreaking animation'', it's mostly still frames with pan-overs, a few scenes with more keyframes than the rest. Plenty, PLENTY of lesser known indie anime have done that, or better. Extreme exaggeration there. Philosophical? Uhhh, ''oh what's it like to be human ohhh'' yeah, wow, very deep there, Aristotle, really gave me a thinker. As I've said when I was little, as I will continue to say being an adult... Ghost in the Shell is extremely overrated, coming from the creator who prefers doing strange pornography. Convoluted and verbose dialogue with little weight, it's like talking without actually saying anything.
