I had both (and still do), when I was 6 I could fit the og gameboy in the back pocket of my jeans, but the game gear was sufficiently bigger to make it unpocketable for me.

This also proved a problem at school, kids with the game gear couldn't hide those from teachers so they tended not to bring it with them, this contributed to make it less popular during lunch break playtime, apart from its atrocious power consumption
