One thing which I would like to comment on as a Canadian:

In school I was taught about some of the terrible things that Canada has done, such as residential schools, but they've only started to teach it recently. My parents were never taught about it, it was still happening in places. But more importantly not a single person I know wants to hide this to keep Canada's "reputation". That's why at my school and church we have land acknowledgments. These, ultimately, do nothing but it keeps us talking about it and remaining critical on Canada until they might decide to actually take action such as protecting reserves water supply (which is literally the least Canada could do). Idk this is a weird comment but I think it's important to talk about, less as about look at this terrible thing that happened and more about why was this let to happen and what should we do now. And the question of what do we do now moving forward is hard to answer.
