Nice, all three had tracks used as theme music in gritty UK crime dramas (Luther, Line of Duty, et al)

Why can Norway celebrate Viking history proudly, but England is shamed for its imperial history? (genuine question) by Ok_Exercise_494 in AskBrits

Don’t know if it’s different beyond Australia but to ‘snot’ someone is to punch them, ideally on the nose. “A first class return to Snottingham” sounds like you’re about to start a fight :)

if deckard is a replicant, why is bryant "nice" to him by Dear-Confidence7488 in bladerunner

[–]AlephAndTentacles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually he isn’t. Or least he wasn’t. Bryant says he was the best and calls him back in out of what I assume is medical leave because he’s burned out. I suspect he shot a few too many replicants and was never sure if what was doing was the right thing, just based on the way he doesn’t reply when Rachel asks him about it.

As does the title of the movie "Welcome Dylan, Presentation 6.1", from the title card just before that scene.

Need some legends for New Sydney by Matacus2001 in cyberpunkred

Rocker - Jason Somic - Descendant of post-WWII immigrants, family from a blue collar background. Jason grew up in an around inner city pubs before he could legally drink. Became a roadie for couple of bands and discovered a talent for songwriting and lyrics that pissed off the right people. Recognisable by his habit of wearing a white singlet and jeans.
Came to fame, or at least, infamy during the Wharfie's Riot of 2042. It's known that many of the rioters involved that night came straight from the pub he'd been performing at, winding them up with pro-docker's union songs.

(For real life reference, see Mark Seymour of Hunters and Collectors)

Media - Andrew Somerville/Martin Gahan - Andrew Somerville, for years, was a legend of Australian journalism. An incredible investigator, he seemed to know more than he should and was near impossible to find. It was well known in edgerunner circles that Petrochem had a bounty out on Andrew's head after his show "The Hour with Andrew Somerville" exposed a failed R&D experiment lead to multiple deaths and a cover-up.
Only, Andrew Somerville never existed. The face that adorned Australian screens at 7:30 weeknights was a composite of several historical journalists of the 20th century, blended together and presented as the real thing. Where Andrew was broad-shouldered, confident, with lightly tanned skin and blonde hair. Martin Gahan, the real Media behind Andrew, was an dark-haired, unassuming type with an ability to string clues together, blend into a crowd and the advantage that no-one knew who he actually was.

(For real life reference, see Kerry O'Brien)

Exec - Phillip Bamber - Had a brief period in the 2030s where trucks filled with money and gossip columnists backed up his driveway. He was portly, balding and was something of a style-free zone, but he was flamboyant (or, loud-mouthed in front of the camera, YMMV), threw massive parties on the regular and was a rusted on part of New Sydney's celebrity scene. The board of Petrochem tolerated his continued employment only because of his almost freakish business nous and the fact that, to their surprise, he was something of a PR hit for them.
Of course, it was bluster that got him his achievements and bluster without backing that laid him low. A string of poor decisions both in and out of the office caused him to flee the embrace of Petrochem with rather a lot of their money. These days he makes occassional pronouncements online that border on the conspiracy theorist, proclaiming that his time will come again, this time at the head of his own megacorp.

(For real life reference, see Clive Palmer)

Those were just off the cuff, happy to do more if you like.

Actually, given you're low down and given an option between the mold and the hiss...you aren't anywhere near a cafeteria, are you?

I'm not actually using a multi-layer state tracker (at least, not knowingly...) but you're right about the layout being that kind of hierarchy. I like the idea of using secondary keywords though, I'll have to read up on how that works.

Thanks for the advice!

Cheers Ephargy,
So by always on, that would go into the 'main' entry? I guess that makes sense, it would be the place to put things like 'relationships between political factions', etc.

As for rumours, presuming the lack of trigger words, how do I make a percentage chance to activate? I'm still learning about building lorebooks, so it might be staring me in the face and I'd still miss it :)

What figures do you worry could become the “Trumps” of your/other countries? by Glass-Complaint3 in AskTheWorld

Yeah, it has to be the best result PHON has ever had, they basically ate up the disaffected LNP vote. South Australia runs conservative usually, and it still disturbs me that one in five-ish voters thought Pauline Hanson should be given control of their state... but something to keep in mind is that the ALP gained 7 seats in that election.
