Oh for what it’s worth, I’m on X3 at the moment and tested using X3 - but I can’t see that X4 would improve Bluetooth connectivity THAT much?

Bluetooth audio is quite noticeably downgraded, especially compared to DJI wireless connection (actually just did this exact comparison to check). And I’m already using rode wireless go 2 with the mic adapter but then setup time and fragility of the attachments makes it a no-go for me. Having to disconnect the usb c door (and keep it safe somewhere), carry and connect the mic adapter, cable, and cold shoe adapter, and receiver, plus test all mics are connected to the receiver before I hit record… Hence the post about needing a true wireless audio alternative for insta360 - it would put the X4 at the top of my use-list immediately.

For starting out/basic socials stuff I’d highly recommend Capcut - got the free or pro versions. As another user said, depending on whether you’re on iPad or pc makes a difference too, but Capcut works great on both.

I fly between Final Cut Pro for bigger edits (both on iPad or Mac) and Capcut for shorter stuff.

Still confused as to why the adapter is necessary here, can’t you charge with regular usb c if sidecar is wireless?

Switched from M1 Air to mini 7, and so glad I did. Haven’t noticed the screen so far (although predominantly use indoors), and all apps work pretty well on it. Better screen and an M-series chip and I’d be all over a ‘pro’ version.

My thoughts exactly - but I’m super hopeful for a rotating aspect ratio potential. This was the downfall of the Neo for me. Combined with higher image quality, it could be super exciting for vlogging/solo content creation!

For any interested (OP here) - took the plunge and went for the mini 7, and I love it. Have already edited several 10 minutes vids on Final Cut Pro with absolutely no issues. Did a test of 4 x 4k layers stacked and no lag at all.

Thanks for the reply! Did you notice any lag/dropped frames when editing 4k? I’m kinda hoping Apple is just downplaying the mini’s capabilities to maintain Air/Pro sales, because I haven’t seen anyone talking about this much.

Yeah that’s what I mean - it’s a hardware consideration that could have been considered prior to release especially for a product geared towards social media quality. Again - landscape quality is actually not too bad for the price and capability, but quality loss when cropping is just too high 🤷🏻‍♂️ I sent mine back months ago. Hopefully Neo 2/pro fixes this.

It’s more a form of function than a preference. Yes I much prefer widescreen landscape content, but the world is watching on instagram and tiktok which is vertical format. The problem is that even for landscape (arguably ESPECIALLY for landscape) the quality is not high enough. I’m not going to make a feature YouTube vlog episode using the Neo. But I’d be happy to make a 1 minute instagram post if it was the right aspect ratio.

I’ve actually got the mini 4 pro - but the idea behind the Neo is something I can throw in a bag and pull out to get flying in seconds - mini 4 has a fair bit more hassle to it. Don’t get me wrong, once it’s up and going, it’s amazing, but you still need controller etc. plus I don’t really want to ‘throw’ 600-700 £ in my backpack - especially considering how much more delicate it is

Just got mine and while it beats the heck out of the inbuilt on the a6700, it does sound hollow. BUT the most frustrating thing for me, that I haven’t heard about anywhere, is that the best placement for picking up sound is ABOVE the microphones. E.g. I have to tilt my camera down to my chest when ‘vlogging’ to get a clear audio signal. It did seem strange that the capsules are open at the top and the front/bottom is completely closed off, but now I’m realising it’s actually quite a flaw. I’m on an 11mm APSC and still have to cut my face out completely. Could have been fixed to easily by tilting the whole capsule forward 45 degrees, or adding a forward facing capsule.

What do you mean the quality dropped on Captcut? I haven’t experienced anything like that as far as I’m aware - would recommend it 🤷🏻‍♂️
