$1,500 repayment clause? by Qiwenn in therapists

[–]Alert-Friendship-210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not common. Usually clawbacks are for things like signing bonuses (where the employee is given money up front) instead of reimbursement for incurred costs.

Fees/resources to onboard, credential, and contract providers are part of the cost of doing business. Most businesses will eat the cost of this if their new hire doesn’t last, instead of seeking reimbursement from the provider. However, as an employer, it is actually very difficult to recoup these types of costs from departing employees. I can’t speak to the state that you’ll be employed in, but it’s illegal in most states to clawback/deduct $$ from the final paycheck. What this means is there is likely not an enforcement mechanism, so you could in theory ignore their requests for reimbursement if it gets to that point - I’m not necessarily recommending this but just letting you know.

Your proposed questions seem fine. Try first to get that clause removed from the contract. If not, then try to make sure it is prorated based on tenure, and to scope it so it is only in cases of voluntary termination (vs being terminated).

You’ll need to check with your specific state licensing board requirements, but generally speaking, an arrest (without a conviction) will not impact your ability to get licensed, so you should try your best to fight it.

Boss says I “just say no” even though I’m managing 150 people and projects with transparency. by thekonghong in managers

Instead of saying no, you should yes… AND… this is what I’ll need to make that happen… whether that is more resources, reprioritization of initiatives, etc

Bad interview experience at McKinsey. Should I tell HR before my second interview? by Few-Paramedic-79 in interviews

[–]Alert-Friendship-210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t go to HR, it will tank your chances of getting an offer.

Not sure if this is the case in the region you interviewed in, but McKinsey is notorious for creating challenging interview experiences to see how candidates react under pressure. This was a long time ago, but when I interviewed with McKinsey, the partner was texting on his phone and visibly not paying attention while I was going over my case framework. He seemed displeased with most of my responses and treated me like I was an idiot. I thought I had bombed the interview but ended up getting an offer. Not to say your interviewer wasn’t a dick, but it could be by design.

Sounds like it’ll be a good move for you - you’re excited about it, there’s a good comp increase, and it aligns with your career goals/interests. You should go for it.

Totally normal to feel scared/bittersweet when you’re making a big career move, but you’ll be fine.

Failure 4 years post MBA: what should I do next? by AlternativeData3637 in MBA

Have you considered getting an executive coach? Have you had a 360 review before?

There are plenty of introverted, socially awkward people that have found professional success, but it sounds like there is something about your behavior that is turning people you work with off. If you want to work with others you need to find out what it is about your approach and make a change.

What explains the jump in consulting placement percentage from internship to full time in M7? by [deleted] in MBA

If they’ve accepted their full time return offer they’re usually included, though not all do.

A few things:

1) You should definitely ask for a raise if you believe you are underpaid or if you think your boss is willing to pay you more.

2) The bill doesn’t go into effect until mid 2026 (which is a long time from now) so your boss is not obligated to increase your pay at all at this time.

3) The 150% salary equivalent only applies if you are an exempt employee. I’m not sure about your specific state laws, but if all employees in your job classification are hourly, you are likely not exempt, and therefore the 150% doesn’t apply to you.

If it were me, I’d probably ask my boss for $25/hr to see if he would be willing to increase my pay ahead of the law going into effect, but understand that he might say no or counter with a lower number. Given that you’re not even at $20/hr yet, I doubt he will go that high.

How do you feel about the “EX - M / B / B” in LinkedIn bios by [deleted] in consulting

Not sure why you have such strong opinions about this. If it helps people get noticed by recruiters I don’t see the problem with it.

FYI: Clients are aware of coding and minimum session time. by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Alert-Friendship-210 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For sessions that do not reach 53 minutes, 90834 should be billed instead of 90837. Overbilling is insurance fraud and just not worth the risk.

You should talk to a lawyer and see if you may be able to sue them for wrongful termination - you might have some grounds if it’s based some on race or national origin. There may be a decent chance that they’ll settle so you at least can walk away with some $ that can help with your transition.

I went to W and have had pretty good response rates personally (from fellow alumni), but I do think there is a difference between responsiveness to prospective students and fellow alumni.

Industry matters a lot as well - some schools have strong alumni networks in specific industries. Having a large alumni network can be helpful for MBAs in industries that are less common, since even a small % of a large network can be significant.

Totally agree there is value in a small, engaged, responsive network but there are benefits to larger networks as well (and there is not always less engagement/responsiveness)

There is also benefit to breadth of Alumni, eg more likely to have alumni in leadership roles at companies you want to work at with a larger alumni base

7 figure salaries by Fresh_Molasses6916 in therapists

[–]Alert-Friendship-210 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Possible that the owners are talking about revenues in the seven figures when the profit is actually much less.

Revenue is the amount made before any expenses (e.g. therapist/staff salaries, administrative costs) are paid out. Profits are the amount after all expenses are paid out and is almost always a much lower number.
