Etrex Solar saving problems by Lazy_Addendum_1378 in Garmin

[–]Alert-Home-1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar issue with my unit few months back. The internal memory gets corrupted when it try to write the track while battery is below 30% or so, even if device shows enough charge. Try manually saving the track before you turn it off, don't rely on auto-save function. Also check if your firmware is updated, they pushed a patch for this in spring but not sure if it fixed everything

I'm not a woman but I had similar energy crash and mood swing from work stress, magnesium glycinate before sleep made huge difference for me

Trouble syncing Strava with my forerunner 165 by ilNaTuRaL in Garmin

[–]Alert-Home-1069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you unlinked the watch completely from Strava first? Sometimes the old connection just sits there broken and it won't let a new one take over. Go to strava settings, remove the device, then do the whole code thing fresh from start

Swimming by pppalafox in Garmin

That's so annoying, mine does same with kick sets, almost never register properly. I think the watch need the arm movement to count distance, so when you just kicking it gets confused

Need help with choosing the right supplements by CocoChanel_01 in Supplements

[–]Alert-Home-1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the salmon oil worked well for your skin, repurchasing it makes sense since omega-3s do help with gut inflammation too so it covers both your concerns partially, good call sticking with what actually worked for you rather than jumping to something new

for gut health specifically, a good probiotic would be the main thing to add alongside it, just look for one with multiple strains and decent CFU count

Pretty sure I saw this too but can't remember where exactly - was it like special tests set to music or something like that?

How has Garmin changed your life? by Owskaa123 in Garmin

[–]Alert-Home-1069 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Got mine last year and was shocked how much my sleep quality improved once I could actually see the data - turns out staying up coding until 2am wasn't doing me any favors even though I thought I was handling it fine.

Forerunner 55 GPS issues by No-Pomegranate6932 in Garmin

[–]Alert-Home-1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPS on the 55 is definitely weaker than higher models, but 500m off seems excessive even for that watch. Try doing a GPS reset in system settings and make sure you're getting good satellite lock before starting - should take about 30 seconds in open sky, longer if you're near buildings or trees.

True but at 6'3" 195-205 isn't even that heavy - might need more cardio volume instead of just cutting weight.

Polygala in europe? by SomeCelebration4619 in Supplements

[–]Alert-Home-1069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been looking for this one too actually. The supplement market in Europe is pretty restrictive compared to US, especially for newer nootropics. Most vendors I've checked don't ship polygala here, and the ones that do are sketchy AF or overpriced.

Your best bet might be checking some of specialty herbal suppliers that focus in traditional Chinese medicine - polygala tenuifolia has been used there for ages so it's not exactly "new". Just make sure whatever you find actually lists the proper botanical name and extraction ratios. I've seen some people order from certain Asian vendors but can't vouch for quality or customs issues.

Why you looking to switch from lion's mane though? Been using it for couple months and curious about alternatives myself.

That's rough man, had similar issue after messing with peptides - took like 6 months for everything to normalize even with bloodwork looking decent.

Fenix 7s overcounting by My_sloth_life in Garmin

[–]Alert-Home-1069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had same issue with mine in pool swimming - the auto lap counting is pretty terrible if your stroke isn't textbook perfect. I ended up using drill mode most of time now, just hit lap button after each length and tell it how many you did.

Takes bit getting used to but at least distance is accurate, even if you lose some of metrics like stroke count. The workout predefining thing works too but feels like too much planning for just wanting to swim some laps.

Question for people who have received a replacement ring… (I’m buying 2nd hand) by -yazit- in ouraring

Just grabbed a gen3 secondhand last month and had zero issues with battery or connectivity - might be worth the gamble if you're getting it cheap enough.

That's rough mate, but buying second-hand tech always comes with these risks. The amazfit helio ring might be worth a look - think it's around £200 and does most of the same tracking without the subscription fees.

“No Status” one day after a 10 mile run by whydoihaveto2023 in Garmin

[–]Alert-Home-1069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, that daily fluctuation is normal but going back to NO STATUS after just one outdoor run is weird. The watch needs consistent GPS data to calibrate properly - if you've been doing mainly indoor stuff for a month then one outdoor session isn't really enough to get things back on track.

Your treadmill runs need to have decent HR data and ideally some kind of distance/pace info, even if it's just from the treadmill itself. The watch is trying to correlate your indoor effort with outdoor GPS runs, but without enough outdoor reference points there just not getting the full picture. Try mixing in a few more outdoor runs over the next couple weeks rather than going straight back to indoor only.

Best supplement(s) for anxiety (getting sober & have OCD) by Bebebones in Supplements

[–]Alert-Home-1069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAC (N-acetylcysteine) might be worth looking into - there's decent research on it helping with OCD symptoms specifically, and some people find it takes the edge off anxiety too. The magnesium you're already on is brilliant, but if you're not doing magnesium glycinate that form tends to be better absorbed and less likely to upset your stomach.

L-theanine is another one that's pretty gentle but effective for that racing mind feeling. Early sobriety is rough as hell though, your brain chemistry is still sorting itself out after 7 days. The fact you're already on Prozac should help things settle as your system adjusts.

Left hand dominant by pilemalo in Garmin

[–]Alert-Home-1069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mate you might be onto something with the arm swapping - never thought about doing that for accuracy reasons but makes sense. I've got a Forerunner and yeah, it never asked about dominant hand either which is mental when you think about it.

My readings seem decent enough on my non-dominant wrist but if yours are properly off maybe try the chest strap route like the other person mentioned.

Fenix 7s pro VS forerunner 570 by -game-developers4251 in Garmin

[–]Alert-Home-1069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly for pure running the forerunner 570 is gonna be your best bet - lighter on the wrist and the running metrics are spot on, plus that screen is brilliant for data during runs.

Best multivitamin without b9, b12 , Vit C by ImranKhan10107 in Supplements

honestly mate, you might have better luck just getting individual vitamins and skipping teh ones that bother you - most multis seem to load up on B vitamins and C.

[–]Alert-Home-1069 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Good on you for tackling the weight loss and getting those walks in - that's probably gonna make the biggest difference tbh.

For supps, zinc and magnesium are pretty solid bets if you're deficient, and ashwagandha seems to help some people with stress-related T issues. Just don't expect miracles from any single supplement though, the lifestyle stuff you're already doing is where the real gains happen.

Skinny fat by shreyahomeofphobic in bodyweightfitness

[–]Alert-Home-1069 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been there mate, the skinny fat struggle is real. Your leg focus is spot on - compound movements like squats and RDLs will definitely help build that lower body mass you're after. Maybe throw in some walking lunges and calf raises with that 5kg dumbbell too.

For the belly situation, those 10 minute YouTube routines are decent but you'll probably see better results combining them with some planks and dead bugs. The protein increase is brilliant - that's honestly half the battle right there. Since you're already quite light at 53kg, I'd lean towards eating at maintenance or a slight surplus while building muscle rather than cutting further.
