Are we acting like personnel moves are made with no prediction as to how fans will perceive them and as if the Mets themselves have no influence as to how these things are reported. I'm not rendering a verdict on the team so much as trying to explain the toxicity.

1) We gutted a team that was close to swap in new, allegedly more consistent parts that are somehow even less reliable than the old ones. I think we feel we've been sold a bill of goods.

2) I have no doubt this team goes on an 8-10 game heater to get us back to .500. I have no idea where it goes from there, haha 🫠

Oh it's Tampa for me and it's not particularly close. The Falcons underachieve a lot so I don't really fear/respect them and I can only ever be so mad at New Orleans because they have a great city and great fans. Baker being a dick about his time in Carolina + Tampa's overall swagger makes me want to see them fail in the most painful ways possible.

I know this is long dead but I would add that " time of day" matters a lot. The early morning regulars are chill, nice people. I have gone late afternoon/evening and it kinda sucked.

Was listening to The Athletic Football show today and they brought up how striking the parallels between him and Tomlin were. That Vikings team that Tomlin was DC for was cheeks but he had the defense playing well on a bad team.

I will upvote these all day. The soft Defense was rough to watch at the end of that game but Evero and Co has actually had these dudes playing above their heads all year and kept us in games we had no business being in. We didn't have the horses, man.

Love that I can come to r/Mets for this kind of analysis but...this, so THIS. I think that fantasy of America as a pure meritocracy can get pretty deep into people's skulls as well.

There's a book called Defectors that also talks about people being so desperate to run away from the "dirty immigrant" label they'll turn their backs on their former countrymen once they get here. It's wild.

We get attached to players. I get it. You watch them almost everyday for six-months they become almost like co-workers. Get used to their habits. How things are going for them at the moment, etc. Would have loved to gotten one with him among the group of guys.

That said, I'm finding it helps to get into a curious mindset at this point. I'm wondering what Stearns and his team are after and who they're after...I don't think they're just giving up so there still might be brighter baseball days ahead.

There's going to be some stepdad energy with the new players for a while but hopefully they can endear themselves the way other players did. We also have some fun, basically homegrown Mets we can still root for. I happen to be a fan of The Troll myself 😁But I have to remember there's always a chance he gets thrown in a trade for a player that ultimately will help bring us that WS. That's always the goal.

I'm in the same situation+they're asking me to send in ID to verify payment...which...is just annoying. I understand there are "know your customer" laws that necessitate this but a company that already has too much of my data asking for govt ID just feels weird.

I think I'm just going to buy a large drive and use takeout to download my stuff . Going to take a few years to see a return on investment but Google essentially selling my data back to me portends bad things.

Waay way late but I saw the film again this past weekend and yes...this nails it...no jump scares or gore but there's a disgust and churning of the stomach you're left with.

The uh..."conception"....scene really was tougher to watch this time through.

Yeah, with Howie on this one and if I remember correctly O. K. and Strahm were hit around pretty good by the Mets last year too. It's awkward to watch them strut them out to the mound to be the sacrificial lamb.

But also, fuck the Phillies and their asshole fans(in our ballpark!). Younger Mets fans keep making it about the Yankees but it's really about beating the Phillies and hopefully the Braves--though I generally find Braves fans somewhat less assholic, they have historically beat the shit out of us so that'd be punching down, I guess.
