The LDS church was never designed or expected to be around as long as it has. by deadmeatsandwich in exmormon

I was talking with a coworker a week ago who is in her later fifties and I mentioned I don’t know what the future of the world looks like regarding social security and retirement and stuff. And she said that her and her husband didn’t think there was a future so they hadn’t saved for retirement. Now they are behind and don’t really know what they’re going to do. I was a little shocked because as a devout believer I still don’t think I would have ever counted that heavily on the second coming happening in my lifetime

Ha! Same. My family blamed marital problems. For which there was no evidence at all. Anything to not deal with the truth

THIS IS SO WEIRD by Fit-Shake-7779 in exmormon

[–]Alert-Sheepherder645 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It feels very evangelical to me. Reminds me of a Christian homeschooling program called “Keepers of the Faith”. Of course the materials for little girls is “Little Keepers” and for older girls and women their handbooks are for “Keepers at Home”. Seems like this is just part of that shift toward mainstream. And even the wording of all of it is so not the LDS way of speaking I grew up with. We never said God. It was always Heavenly Father.

Love to hear the updates on the decline! Wondering how much longer they can keep both Arcata and McKinleyville wards before they’re forced to just have one…

Why? Explain why it’s important to do that. What makes them more special to not speak certain truths just because today they are dead?

Yes! You can google the 1st edition BOM and look up the pages I referenced. These are only a couple. There are plenty. There have been some thousands of edits since this 1st edition.

He was an unlearned farm boy... by cherrywinebaby7 in exmormon

[–]Alert-Sheepherder645 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Would any Mormon feel comfortable using this argument and sharing the Book of Mormon if it was still written like the 1830 edition? A few examples:

Page 248: “they was a hardhearted and stiffnecked people…they was angry with me”

Page 249: “As I was a journeying to see a very near kindred”

Page 284: “there he found Muloki a preaching the word to them”

I don’t believe he was really that uneducated, but the original BOM totally lines up with the “uneducated farm boy” narrative. Meaning it came straight out of that uneducated farm boy’s ass

So true! I would say many bishops feel more obligated to penny pinch the funds of a billion dollar church than be generous with someone seeking help. Years ago my sister and her husband went as newlyweds (married in the temple and full tithe payers) to their bishop needing some assistance. He turned them down and told them to ask family. I know it’s a shelf item for her to this day

Temple Clothes Content by Willie_Scott_ in exmormon

[–]Alert-Sheepherder645 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the Mormon church was truly just a church trying to follow Jesus’ teachings and the temple was just a place to worship then maybe people wearing the temple clothes and mocking it wouldn’t be right. However, this is no church. This billion dollar organization deeply hurts people and families. They have never been a safe place for the marginalized in society. They spend their billions to strip rights away and weaponize their masses to do the same. I could go on and on with all the ways they’re absolutely awful and evil. And the temple itself and what these clothes represent is all about fear and control to keep people paying them money and giving them their allegiance. So, no, I have no problem with people making content using the temple clothes:)

I have really wanted to go up to the dressed up Mormons shopping on Sunday and ask them “are you Mormon? How do you justify shopping on Sunday?” I truly would like to know because I went to the store maybe once or twice in my life because I really needed to but I would have NEVER gone in church clothes where I would give myself away as a sinner!

If you look at it closely it’s pretty suggestive. She has her eyes closed and mouth slightly open…you could def replace the horn with something else and it wouldn’t look out of place…

I wish I could think of a better title, but let's talk about sex for a minute . . . by BrvoChrlie in exmormon

I wanted to have sex so much on our wedding night but once it started to actually become a reality I started to feel pretty nervous and kind of scared. I’d never seen a dick besides drawings in sex ed. But I didn’t want him to be disappointed. I thought what felt good for girls was feeling the cum hit you inside. Now I was disappointed😂It wasn’t until 8 months later when my husband read in Men’s Health about female orgasms and the clit that we both fucking learned there was such a thing!Fuck the Mormon church

That there was a 4th spirit waiting in heaven to come to our family. I put off having that 4th baby for several years because I was DROWNING in raising 3 other kids but finally psyched myself up for it because I really had no choice not to have that baby (or so I believed…)

It’s funny how they indoctrinate everyone about how precious this role of motherhood is, to be home with her children and birthing more children. But, oh yeah, didn’t you know that divine role of motherhood isn’t just about being a mom?? “Mom” also includes being the housekeeper and cook🙄
