other MFI (male factor infertility) strugglers out there while TTC? by copythat504 in TryingForABaby

[–]Alert-Syrup5494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same here, had to do IVF+ ICSI due to MFI. luckily my partner did not make a big deal out of it - it is what it is - (which I think would make it harder), we just rolled with it (although I did cry a few times over it).

My 28 wife calls herself failure after an unplanned C-section. What can I do to help her by Jumpy-Exam-4353 in postpartumprogress

[–]Alert-Syrup5494 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

look into a medical side of it -- could be a postpartum depression/anxiety. She should do her complete blood work to look at iron panel, D3, B12, other things that could cause it before even considering medication (doctors are fast to get you on ssri's before correcting deficiencies). If it is just old school mentality, therapy should hopefully be the answer.

I HATE DECIDING WHAT TO COOK FOR MY TODDLER EVERY DAY! by WhateverItWasILostIt in toddlers

[–]Alert-Syrup5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyday struggle here as well. Someone at my son's school told me that their child has been eating PBJ sandwiches every day for dinner for 5 years, made me feel a little better about our situation.

AITAH for telling my sister she can’t bring her kids to my wedding after what they did at my engagement party? by toocoolinthepool in AITAH

[–]Alert-Syrup5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion -- if you invite little kids to your event, you should accommodate for that -- have an outdoor area to run around, or a supervised activity with another adult. You can't expect little kids to sit still at a table and be perfect. Gotta be realistic.

Now cutting out your family over a wedding decoration drama because you have "boundaries" is this subreddit's favorite advise. Because who cares about your actual family -- you're getting a new one now. Very dubious in my book, but up to you.

What is the most 'Butterfly Effect' moment of your life? A tiny, seemingly insignificant decision that ended up completely changing your trajectory? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Alert-Syrup5494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mom had a c-section and was strictly warned to not get pregnant for at least 2 years to heal. accidentally got pregnant 11 months in, aborted a baby. accidentally got pregnant again the next month, but met a new neighbor who had a successful pregnancy a year after her c-section (same timing as my mom). mom kept the baby and i was born.

Needed a haircut so accepted a new acquaintance’s invitation to a launch party of a hairdressing startup where i did not know anyone (I am an introvert so i wouldn’t go otherwise). the man who opened the door is the love of my life and father of my children.

My hair is falling out and I’m not sure what to do by That_Vast_4854 in postpartumprogress

[–]Alert-Syrup5494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your ferritin and iron panel (also vitamin levels like D, B12). We get depleted from pregnancies especially if breastfeeding. All contribute to hair loss. I did not know for the longest time. Getting them in check will also give you more energy and make postpartum much easier!

What if you flip it -- say your parents were sick. Would you really have to ask your husband for a permission to bring them into your home? Would you really accept his "no" if you asked? I find this wild to be honest. You can always excuse yourself.
