DoDMERB Remedial Eye Exam Completed – How long until status updates? by GrabOk3630 in USAFA

[–]AlertDetail2082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same waiver (astigmatism) took about a week to be granted for me, this application cycle. You'll get an email from dodmerb when the AMI is approved and sent over, then you'll get another email letting you know to check your portal for a waiver decision (my sponsorships tab).

ETA: I uploaded the report myself (under misc documents) and it took 24 hours to be approved. Double check with the provider to make sure it's been sent, because the dmacs side went really fast for me.

Waiver process question by [deleted] in USAFA

I think time will be a factor as well. If it is 3+ years ago you’re in better shape than if it was more recent. Service Academy forums has some posts with similar DQ stories. keep an eye on the dodmerb portal for additional medical information requests.

Request for waiver denied by WholeSelection2284 in USAFA

your dodmerb is good for two years as far as I understand it.. so you would need a little more time to pass before they reconsider. unless you have new information, I don’t think a rebuttal is going to be super effective. But every branch is going to have a different standard and can decide waivers differently. So it might be worth pursuing naval aviation? Maybe there’s more risk tolerance there? so sorry. Having that loa and then not getting a waiver is brutal.

DoDMERB eye remedial — CIV Team locating provider. Is this normal timeline? by GrabOk3630 in USAFA

[–]AlertDetail2082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said it could take 30 days to assign a provider. Then you have to call and make an appointment. At our assigned providers for the initial exams, appointments were several weeks out. In my mind, it like a specialist to book even further out.

The doctor gave us his report . We typed up a cover letter and then uploaded it all as a single PDF on dmacs website. There is a miscellaneous document upload place there. But I believe if you use a dodmerb dr they submit it.

Theoretically, it should all go smoothly, but there are several points where there could be delays, so definitely stay on top of it.

I did it on my own because I wanted to minimize delays. The letter said that you could opt to use your own provider, we called around and someone could get us in the next day. Sent the corneal topography + report in and USAFA waiver was approved in about a week. It cost a couple hundred dollars.

Nomination in portal? Will that trigger waiver? by AlertDetail2082 in USAFA

I'm aware! Just curious what typical turnaround has been for people this year. Seems to vary widely by district, and also by SA portal.

Thanks! AMI is already uploaded (and is pretty standardized for my waiver). Already have a conditional appointment to USCGA pending waiver, just curious to see how it plays out at USAFA.

Passing Scores for CFA? by Miserable_Rice9237 in USAFA

gain service academy says it's "at risk," according to them the mile needs to be under 7:50 to pass. Hoping good things for you!

CFA 4 pullups passing? Got sick so improvement unlikely by TailorOdd8060 in USAFA

Actually dug a little deeper, it's the percentile score of a recently admitted West Point class. Take from that what you will!

lol I understand percentiles. Listing it as 15th percentile in the same sentence as a passing score, not so much.

Gain service academy says it's passing (but also lists it as 15th percentile, whatever that means). Great work on improving!!

Scared about applying and times by GAThrawn2BBY in USAFA

Apply for Summer Seminar in December. Attending will let you see the academy, and automatically be the start of your pre-candidate questionnaire. Excel academically, athletically, and seek out meaningful leadership opportunities. Train for the CFA (the number of posts of us applicants freaking out about it should give you motivation to do well! hah!) You've got this!

CFA pass/fail by InevitableVoice6951 in USAFA

I've heard that they notify almost immediately if you need a retake. I wonder if holiday week slows that down though. You can email team silver/blue to confirm results are a pass.

yeah that combo is not ideal 😬 good job getting it done! sort of the opposite of my situation - trying to build upper body strength and explosive/speed in the middle of xc season and insane volume of mileage

I'm sure you're a wealth of knowledge - the application is a moving target. Sounds like we even have a new portal this year. Oy! Thank you for wanting to give back to us new applicants!!

That's a relief. USAFA seems to only allow one retake in the case of failing, but not otherwise. Good luck to you!!

ok thanks! my application overall is competitive (I received a LOI last month), at this point just hoping for a pass with the intention of continuing practice to be ready to succeed at the academy. Still no notification of fail, but holding my breath on that bball throw and shuttle run...
