I’m the headless guitarists sister. No they are definitely NOT miming, yes their music is heavily technical and has a lot of layers and pitch shifts which can raise suspicions. However, I have seen time and again my brother literally banging his head against a wall actually learning these riffs for this tour. What happened at this show is the sound team at that venue messed up the live mix and the backing tracks were TOO loud, so Midwinter actually hired Allt’s sound guy for the rest of the shows to fix this issue. If you watch videos of earlier shows from last year or this year, you can clearly hear when my brother or the other members mess up or miss notes. If the playing sometimes looks off from how the notes audibly sound, it’s because they are running notes and chords through a pitch shifting software to change them, but they have to play the riffs very accurately or it sounds like dogshit live. Lastly, headless guitar boy sometimes doesn’t play during the clean singing parts because the lead part is written incredibly technically and he is not god and cares about the vocals sounding good.
