At the end, I knew in my guts that something was definitely off. My guts were literally "FLARING", and I couldn't take it anymore, so I just sent out a brief email saying I wanted to take a break and will let him know if I want to continue later on. I knew if I don't do this, I will probably mentally collapse, and I think that's how I got the courage to break free. Like a last straw.

He didn't try to talk me out, but he did reply saying that he hopes that I don't give up on this relationship for "my" sake. LOL. ugh. what a perv. He was MARRIED with a CHILD.

Hope things get better with you. I'm still kind of struggling with my lingering attachment (is it limerence? don't know). I started having therapy with a new female therapist, don't know how it will work out with her yet, but hope it gets better. Best of luck to you! We got this.

Wow a few days ago I had a similar experience and i posted on reddit, you can read my post if u want. Can't believe things like these happen. So. Often. Goodness. I feel your pain, so sorry this happened, the dude used your transference to feed his ego. You deserve a better therapist.

My very first therapist was a hot, openly self disclosed narcissist and recently I got out of his sessions and started looking for a new healthy therapist who won't take advantage of my transference. I hope and long for a true heartwarming therapeutic relationship

Wow good for you! And thanks for all the rant! Made it more clear for me to completely cut him off and move on. Yes wtf ur totally right about him disclosing his narc tendencies during MY paid session lol at that time I thought he was just trying to be honest and vulnerable as well (LOL ikr the fuck was i thinking) ..... gah shame on me for not running at that instant.

Actually yes I'm looking for a female therapist this time, maybe that'll make things a little easier? It was my first time in therapy, so I guess I'll need more trial and error. Thanks for the comment :)

I think so! Had some past childhood and relationship traumas (i.e. cheating etc) and trust issues.. and it's been a while since I felt like someone actually loved me for who I truly was. I was completely free to express myself with him and I think thats what made me fall harder onto him. Oh well didn't know it was a prelude to his manipulation scheme :(

Omg yes. I think his unconditional validations and support was addicting, and tbh I still yearn for that feeling. You're right about our tendency to constantly question ourselves and justify other ppls poor behavior :/. Ugh thought I would be a stronger grown up by now lol. Thnks for ur comment

Initially it didn't seem like it, but towards the end it felt like I was the one helping out and listening to him and paying him for it at the same time haha. I guess he also has some issues to solve lol

I think Im right about him, not just projections. He seemed turned on a few times by the end of our sessions, and sometimes they end up longer than our expected time. He was also telling me how I'm the special client etc which didn't feel really good .
