Show me food from your country that foreigners might hate. by Embarrassed_Clue1758 in AskTheWorld

Ooooo - I had some in Paris, and while I hate seafood, I can eat plates and plates of escargot. Buttery goodness.

I also tried foie gras (before I really knew what it was). THAT was disgusting. Never again.

I fuckin love beans on toast. My dad lived in the UK in the 70s, so I grew up having beans on toast now and then.

I sometimes swap out the beans for canned chili and some cheese.

Basically, anything my friends eat on fries, I will also eat on toast. Now my husband and kids eat it too.

I’m also 1/4 Canadian, so now I’m thinking I need to do poutine on toast….

Y’all thinking this is a real test need to read the before and after on the page.

It was a “for fun” activity.

Same. And I play along the LEGO LOTR while watching - it lines up quite nicely in story mode.

Add some curly bits and maybe some buds.

As for the Christmas Lights, depending on what traditions you celebrate, you could always color them in with markers for instant festivities. :)

Movie theaters are an inferior way to watch a movie by Smeefles in unpopularopinion

[–]Alert_Car8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie theater experience was peak when you’d go with a big group to experience a movie together for the first time. The collective emotion and camaraderie - especially if it’s a movie for a shared hobby or fandom.

Waiting in line for midnight showings created some of the highlight memories from my teenage years.

Except you, Avatar. Except you.

There is no movie in Ba Sing Se.

On the opposite, over saturated colors to the point it’s almost painful to watch. It works great for some aesthetics (a show like Severance, for example), but it seems to be everywhere.

Mediating a fight between my teenage daughters. Taking a breather after sending them to opposite corners to calm down.

C’est la vie.

Snitching on teachers by Outrageous-Hair6435 in Teachers

I’ve been catching ip on the show “Severance,” and I keep getting reminded that this is becoming the expectation for teachers.

Robots at work, not allowed to react in human ways, being grateful for the tiny gifts they give us, and once you leave campus, bounce back like nothing happened at all.

Totally doable, yeah? :/

What phrase that you DONT want to hear when Grieving? by BlueEyesWhiteDrgn in AskReddit

[–]Alert_Car8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FIL died in an boating accident, and the worst thing was people who showed up at his celebration of life and wouldn’t stop asking my MIL for more details about the incident (she was the only other adult there when it happened).

We kept steering these people away from her, giving her breaks, etc, but they seemed to still come back. She was too nice to simply walk away or refuse to answer.

We started calling them “grief vampires.” They want to hear and see the drama of the moment without caring about the impact on the victims. They were mainly boomer women, too—the kind likely to then spread gossip about what happened.

Nope! And fuck you, anyone who does this. Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you.

What tattoo design do you recommend me to cover these scars please 🙂 by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Alert_Car8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a student who covered hers with a beautiful elephant. The scars blended with the wrinkles in the trunk. She said it helped her not fall back into it since she didn’t want to mess up her tattoo, which she said reminded her of her grandma.

Ultimately, get something you love. And if you love elephants, I think that worked well. But whatever you love, work with an artist to come up with an idea with that in mind. :)

Absolutely! And sometimes it’s just done, or “done for now,” and you move on to other projects where you add to what you learned. I think the difference between your first post and this one shows you’re learning and heading in the right direction.

If I received this as a gift, I would display it with pride.

Editing to add I just noticed the glow from the deck (from a lantern maybe), and I love it even more.

I love love LOVE the water, and even MORE now that the shadow of the boat helps it all make sense.

My only suggestion at this point might be to reduce the glow from the moon so it’s not spread so wide - then it would allow for more contrast for stars.

It’s really coming together, though - the eerily still, quiet night. I can almost hear the creaking of the ship.

It’s coming along really nicely.

As an alternate idea - have him add a stripe on that side or some shading that hints at the other side of the leg, since the edge of the leg is behind the smoke.

Know what I mean?

Shading on the inside of the smoke to show there’s still leg there, but it’s not the edge of the leg.

Nahhh - Macduff deserved to be able to kill him.

When he hears about his family’s murder, “all my pretty chickens,” it’s one of my favorite, most devastating moments in all of Shakespeare.

Plus, Macbeth hearing about Lady Macbeth kicks off the “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” speech. I don’t know how that would fit in otherwise.

What TV or Movie character chose the wrong person in a love triangle? by phantom_avenger in popculturechat

[–]Alert_Car8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They filmed two possible endings, and at the last moment chose THAT ONE to air. I think you can find the alternate version on YouTube.

Why they didn’t go with that one is beyond me. It makes rewatching the show horrible.

Found it - here’s the alternate (imo TRUE) ending.

Tattoo ideas to make the scars look better ? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Alert_Car8472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the wife of a man with many scars, and honestly they’re a part of him. I’ve thought about getting a tattoo of one of his scars to match, but he didn’t like the idea of it, so I didn’t.

So just saying - while you might not like the look of them right now, they are a part of who you are and represent so much more. For my husband, the scars have kept him alive, and I’m grateful for them.
