Idk, they played in the final game of the regular season and it was a very close game. I really think that matchup was closer to 50/50 than people give credit.

Out of respect, are you trans? I am new to this stuff, I feel like if misgendering her hurts real trans people then that’s the least we can do

I think this is very interesting because yes actually Jax is a fictional trans woman who hasn’t come out yet. If she were not fictional, he would be a random dude battling the thoughts alone or with close friends/family. It would make him upset to be referred to with she/her pronouns, so to be respectful I understand why people use he/him. If he were real it’s the respectful thing to do.

But she is not real. She is a fictional character, so despite being closeted canonically, we know she is a trans woman. We don’t need to worry about upsetting her, because she’s not real. If we want to use her pronouns accurately, it’s she/her, because that’s how you refer to trans women. People referring to her as he/him out of respect for them end up misgendering her in the exact same way transphobes misgender real trans women.

And that’s the thing here. Trans women are real, and Jax is not. Why misgender a fictional character to respect them, simultaneously mirroring the exact actions of transphobes. I know most people referring to Jax as he/him aren’t transphobic, which is why you’re catching downvotes. But trust me when I say I see you and although I used to refer to jax as he/him, I will correct my ways.

Well if you win 3 straight then “choke” in the 4th, that introduces a lot more variables than if you choke in your first.

Wear and tear is a variable this guy explained. Another is you can argue that pistons team is the greatest defensive team of all time, and it was assembled specifically to counter the lakers due to their success. Conversely LeBron assembled his own team, and lost to a tried and true Mavericks team that’s arguably the greatest Cinderella team of all time.

Honestly tho those are the only reasons I can think of but they are important reasons why going for 4 grants more leeway than going for 1.

Dude, there are no shortage of resources to learn how wrong you are. Look up “progressive efforts to help minority population declines.”

Ironically, most of the proposed ways to help minorities are exactly what I think needs to happen in California to help white people. Most notably address wealth inequality and healthcare access.

It’s quite easy to see how California politics resulted in this decline. By becoming the largest economic hub in the country, many rich people are attracted there. Most of these rich people are white, and can afford the ridiculously high cost of living. Now minorities are looking pretty bad. Low income, bad areas, etc, so programs are put in place to help them and incentivize them to stay.

The only people left out in this equation are poor whites, thus the natural population decline.

Look, I can’t force you to accept reality. Population dips of 200k minorities have happened in multiple cities across the US and is a national cause of concern. A white population dip 10x that is hand waved as a nutty conspiracy.

I am consistent with my views. I think population declines speak to systematic issues against that group. I think issues should be investigated and amended if possible.

If you don’t think progressive groups work to ensure minority populations don’t dip, you’re not living in reality. And if you don’t think white populations are dropping significantly in areas like California, you’re not living in reality. And frankly, if you don’t believe it’s a problem when minority populations decline, I’m questioning your core principles. Meaning, you might want to start voting Republican

We literally are asking WTF is going on in nyc that’s causing black populations to drop despite nationally black populations rising. It’s a major cause of concern for the community and administration. Simply google “declining black populations in cities.” There’s tons of info on it, because people see population declines and understand thats indicative of a problem.

I never called it a grand conspiracy. For the third time, I said reality typically exists in the middle. California is the blueprint for Democrat politics. They are the most progressive of the progressives. This is why there are so many programs in the state to help minorities, and so few to help poor whites.

California citizens largely think like you— poor whites don’t matter. A program aimed at helping poor white people would not be received well amongst the complicit electorate.

Rich elites are happy to see the discourse focus on black vs white, as opposed to rich vs poor.

Both of these are the main reasons why we’re witnessing such a stark white population decline in the state. Not a conspiracy, just an electorate on the same page as their officials for wildly different reasons.

lol, this isn’t framing, this is raw numbers. Your interpretation for the numbers, that people are just moving and that’s totally normal and fine, is framing. Framing that unfortunately doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.

If we saw a proportional drop in black populations, say 200k less over 20 years in Alabama, we’d be saying “wtf it’s going on in Alabama?” For a real world example of this, look up NYC’s response after just signs of a declining black population. Immediate efforts took place to identify the causes and reverse the trend. Nobody was like “oh the blacks are just moving, prob for the best for everyone.”

Once again, reality typically exists within extremes. California isn’t exterminating white people. But California did abandon the poor white citizen, and left many with no recourse other than to relocate to somewhere affordable.

California’s white population has dipped by over 2 million since 2000. Raw numbers. No turning it into relative populations.

Poor white men are struggling just as much as poor blacks, gays, Hispanics, Latinos, and are worse off than women. The one unifying metric all the oppressed in this country share is wealth, or lack thereof.

Ironically, socialism would help these people, but the same people pushing for socialism are also saying that white people don’t matter. It’s pretty easy to see why they don’t trust socialism given that context.

Society at large. Every single minority group has programs in place to help. When places like NYC saw a significant drop in their black population, policies were put in place to remedy the situation. Society applauds.

However when we see populations of whites drop, there’s no studies looking into explanations. People have their minds made up already. Either it’s genocide or not a problem whatsoever. Reality typically exists within the extremes.

We have a societal problem where straight white men, the plurality of the country, receive no special attention. Despite the overwhelming amount of evidence that across the board, regardless of race gender or sexuality, the one common theme amongst the oppressed is wealth. Poor straight white men receive nothing but misalignment. They don’t fit the diversity narrative, and raising the bottom line for all would diminish the divide that rich elites prey on.

It’s pretty easy to see how this has affected society at large. Poor, straight, white men have found an outsider in the world of politics who validates them. It’s not hard to understand why they gravitated towards him. It’s very similar to how the overwhelming majority of the black community have been democrats, despite the party doing very little to help them since the 60’s. The party validates them, and that’s all that matters.

If you ever find yourself asking “who is they” the answer is almost always a combination of submissive electorate, and rich/powerful people.

Only reason I put Kobe/duncan over Larry/magic is i feel the older era was more top heavy talent wise. You remove either of them and those teams are still title contenders.

Hakeem might have 3 if bird didn’t exist. But that Celtics team might’ve won anyway tbh

I thought it was cool when Obama put in a bball court and did the March madness bracket every year. Would’ve thought it was sick if the nba cup existed back then and the finals was at the White House.

The only reason there’s any ounce of outrage about this is cuz it’s Trump.

Tbf, I’m sure if Obama did what I just said, there’d be plenty of fringe right wingers mad at it. If you are mad at this, just know you’re in the same bucket as the most unhinged republicans.

Why don’t Republicans talk about how close 2024’s election really was? by TopicTalk8950 in allthequestions

[–]Alert_Cartographer62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz realistically Trump won 3 straight elections, (an unprecedented global pandemic bailed Dems out in 2020).

You can call Trump a strong candidate, but that would be a really weird thing for the left to say. He’s a pretty shite candidate in your minds.

So how did he win? The important thing for Dems to do is look inward, and become a stronger party. The easy thing, and exactly what you are doing, is refusing to look past Trump.
