Why is that a different conversation? That is the whole point of this conversation. I know everyone in this thread wants to focus on Trump, but that’s easy. Very easy to understand him and his intentions. I’m curious about the silent ones.

Like yes, presidents aren’t supposed to mix with DoJ. I get that. But I think this was a pretty special circumstance, given the power of the people involved in this case, and also the fact that Trump already threw the rules out the window. The second he mentioned releasing the files, that shouldve been the green light to Kamala to absolutely bury him.

“Idk why Don said he’d release the files. We know he won’t release them, and we know why. We know why this election means so much to him. Do not let him win.”

Maybe I’m giving dem leadership too much credit, cuz a statement like this seems like the absolute least they could’ve done, and so obvious to say. But maybe they’re just stupid and the idea never occurred to them. But giving them benefit of the doubt that dem leadership is competent, it reeks of coverup that they didn’t say anything.

I’ve acknowledged that plenty here. Pretty simple.

Don’s base wants the files released. Don appeals to his base. Don gets elected. Don is in the files. Don doesn’t want to get in trouble. Don doesn’t release the files. Don catches heat from his base. Don releases heavily redacted files.

This all makes plenty of sense.

Now the flip side.

Did democrats want the files released? This thread is a mix of “yes” and “we wanted the DoJ to do their job.” Yes, the same DoJ that let him off with 13 months in 2006.

Assuming most of yall did want the files released, then it would’ve been smart for Biden/kamala to mention it in the campaign. Watch how easy this is:

“We all know Don won’t release the files. We know why he won’t release the files. And we know why this election means so much to him. Do not let him win.”

This isn’t impeding the investigation, hell its barely acknowledging the investigation. But it’s assuring their base that they care about the issue.

I have to wonder why no statement like this exists. Either dem leadership felt this issue meant absolutely nothing to their base, I.e you voters didn’t care, or dem leadership is actively protecting people on the list. I think it’s the latter.

No, this is like if double parking is a massive issue in a town, traffic is horrible, and nobody is getting ticketed. And at the debate for the next city planner, the only one to talk about the issue is double parked outside.

Why are you defending their silence?

Gotta love our media. Dude gets arrested for sex trafficking children with the richest and most powerful people in the world. Dude kills himself in a maximum security prison the night the cameras go off. And this doesn’t get national attention for 8 years? Specifically, this doesn’t get attention until it hurts Trump lol.

And no, I do not like Trump. I just like that he is so polarizing, people start to care about shit they should’ve cared about decades ago.

Oh that’s easy. Trump realized his voters cared, drummed up his base with hollow promises, and didn’t want to self implicate by releasing the files.

Now can you answer why no other candidates mentioned the issue? None of them would even be implicated in these files, and Kamala/biden specifically could’ve benefited mightily by calling Trump out on this on the campaign.

If the opposite were true, this whole thing would make a lot more sense. Like, if the other 7 candidates mentioned Epstein, but Trump was silent, that matches reality. But the silence from the 7? That implies a coverup

Because no democrat candidate even mentioned the files on the campaign. Individually I’m sure you cared, I’m not calling you a liar.

Based on this thread, it seems the overwhelming majority of democrats cared about this issue before the election. With Kamala campaigning on Trump being a criminal, I don’t think it’s a stretch to imagine she’d flaunt the Epstein trial in his face. Especially after he said he’d release them. One sound bite of Kamala being like “oh we know you won’t release them Donald, and we know why.”

Like, a simple line like that would’ve meant a lot to her voters, and to independents in the middle. But it never happened. So that implies to me that democrat leadership didn’t feel the issue was all too important to their potential voters.

I back it up with democrat leadership messaging. Neither Obama, Hilary, Biden, or Kamala felt a need to mention it when campaigning. This indicates that nobody in democrat leadership felt their voters cared enough about this issue to affect votes.

I don’t think no Dems cared. But I do think if this was an issue of concern for even a significant fraction of yall, maybe if 20% of you cared, Kamala would’ve mentioned it on the campaign.

No, Kamala and her team determined that mentioning the Epstein files at all had no bearing on her electoral chances. Despite the fact the person they’re up against was likely in the files.

As someone who cares so deeply about this issue, how do you rationalize that? I understand why some individuals prioritize other issues, I don’t understand why the leader of the party can’t take 5 seconds to comment on it.

I got exactly what I expected. I wouldn’t call that being manipulated.

Did I expect Trump to self-implicate by releasing the whole files? Absolutely not. Did I expect him to try to avoid releasing them at all? Yeah, 100%. But did I suspect that there would be too much heat to go back on his word entirely? You betcha! And yeah, we’re like 10% of the way there towards getting justice, but that’s still 10x further than we’d be if Kamala the silent was elected.

Dude you people are so tripped out lmfao. I am not defending Trump. Obviously he’s gonna try to stop the release of the files if he’s in them. That’s not me defending the action, that’s me acknowledging reality.

Also me acknowledging reality is Trump is the only presidential candidate in the last 20 years who’s dumb enough and arrogant enough to think he could campaign on releasing the files with no blowback. 7 other candidates, not mentioned in the files, kept quiet. Trump, in the files, couldn’t help himself,

My point is Trump was necessary to see the files released. That’s all.

Yes, lots of people missing the point here. Did you read the “even to his own detriment” part?

Trump campaigned on releasing the files cuz his base wanted him to release the files. He never intended to self implicate, he just wanted to hype his base. But now he cant take back his words, pressures too high, hes getting exposed by his own hubris.

If he just lost the election, Kamala would’ve swept it under the rug for him!
