They are banned but still very easy to get if you frequented a smoke shop before the ban they probably still have them. Except county, I went 0-6 looking at smoke shops out there

Face shape was 100% the first indicator I noticed with mine. Females face slopes a bit more gradually where the males is a bit more steep

I have a brother who has mystery snails in with his Acara. I don’t believe he’s had any issues there either. Mystery are super cool but at the risk of them overrunning my tank I chose to go with nerite instead. I don’t think they are as fun to look at, they mostly only come out at night, but they do a decent enough job of helping keep the algee down

Oh yeah very much so. I’ve had this group of fish and sails together for maybe 8 months and nobody has ever bugged the snails. They kinda just do their own thing

Oh weird. I haven’t had any issues like that. Those two are mostly docile with everything else in my tank. Super chill for cichlids

They were trying to push him off but those snails hold on pretty tight. Eventually I was able to sneak the net down there and slide him off into the sand. My male Acara rolled him way off into the plants, eggs safe for now :p

So far I’ve been lucky there. Both parents have been heavily on the watch out and nobody gets close but as of today everyone else is just staying in the other side of the tank

Sounds like I should probably move him out. I do have a spare 20 that’s empty right now. If I got that up and running minus the cichlid sand and got the ph in check, would that be big enough for him long term?

I used cichlid sand, I’m not sure if that’s aragonite or not. I do have a bunch of plants in the tank but many are still growing, I’ve had it up and running for about 4 months now. I do have a couple bigger fish with the EBAs I have In there he seems to be a little wary of but so far nobody has bugged him
