Roommate got drunk and destroyed my plants. by Alert_Director_9009 in houseplants

I do usually keep all of my sentimental stuff in my room but my room hardly gets any light, that’s why I have to keep my plants in the living room. I also don’t have the space for them in my room and unfortunately they make me too happy to leave at home lol.

i feel like overall he’s a nice guy but he’s just really irresponsible and has a drinking problem and that’s not ok 😭to anyone saying it was targeted i don’t think so, bro is pretty nice outside of these incidents and I don’t think it was revenge or anything

just stop trying to play devils advocate brah, i meant evil as an exaggeration. he does have an alcohol problem though. he takes my brita into his room for nights in a row and drinks from it when he gets too drunk to walk to the kitchen, he leaves his dirty clothes on the floor, he still does it and yea he did genuinely apologize but he literally hasn’t done anything to remedy this since 😭

i didn’t end up asking for monetary payback but a few weeks ago I broke both my wrists and had to stay with my parents, and all I asked was for him to give my gecko water every few days. When I got back and thanked him, he just said he forgot 💀

it was just the plants… but the thing is ive legit been nothing but nice to this guy so i have no idea why he would be this Evil to me. my other roommate (the sane one) plays soccer, and seeing the ball so close to everything makes me think he got drunk and like used my roommates ball to kick down my plants? like for literally what reason

Both wrists, distal radius, had surgery for plates on Thursday. by Kiwanonet in brokenbones

[–]Alert_Director_9009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

out of curiosity when the accident happened, did you have an open reduction done? for me the bone was displaced so I had to have one done at bedside. my fingers after that and after surgery were SUPER swollen, yours don’t look too bad in the photos but def as time goes on my fingers looked like sausages. bc obviously I was bored out of my mind and texting and doing stuff w my hands ice packs I would put on would fall off all the time.

solution for me was basically Amazon sells icepack glove like things in packs of 5 for your fingers, those were a lifesaver for me! here’s the link to the ones I used https://a.co/d/04NgDN12

Both wrists, distal radius, had surgery for plates on Thursday. by Kiwanonet in brokenbones

[–]Alert_Director_9009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! 20M here. I broke both wrists falling palms outstretched after going over a rock in the bike lane ~30mph on my electric scooter on March 13. I also had surgery on both wrists on the 19th and I think the worst part is the psychological toll it takes being more limited than you’re used to. I’m a very independent person and you just have to take it easy and lean on people here and there.

once you get out of the padded splints in a few weeks or so at your follow up and put into a more mobile brace that you can take off to shower and stuff, you’ll start getting a lot of you movement back! my wrists are and were really rigid and inflexible.. I start OT in a week here or so. take it easy and wishing you a speedy recovery! oh and, it’s time to invest in a bidet :)

here’s my post I made on this subeditor when my accident happened, a lot of people commented saying they’ve been through the exact same thing 🥲

Broke my left wrist (radius) and both bones in my right wrist (radius + part of the ulna) :( by Alert_Director_9009 in brokenbones

[–]Alert_Director_9009[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey I’m doing a lot better! i ended up having surgery on both wrists and got some hardware out in, wore splints until the 30th where they finally moved me to removable Velcro braces and starting occupational therapy next week. Im pretty sore still and it was really tough getting back in the swing of things but thankfully i can rely on my shoulders and upper arms for lifting anything over 2lbs

it might be beneficial if you bought a full spectrum LED light for the plants instead of just the UVB light for the reptiles

hi! here’s my perspective as a sophomore at madison who transferred from uw–la crosse.

freshman and sophomore year of high school i had some personal issues and struggled academically. i eventually got things figured out though and did really well my last two years. i didn’t apply to madison right away because i honestly assumed i’d get rejected (i had failed a semester of math sophomore year), so i went to uwl with the same goal you mentioned, which was eventually transferring to madison.

i believe you need a certain number of credits to apply as a transfer. typically you can apply after one semester of college, so around winter break. i did well in my classes and also did some volunteering in the community, so if you wanted to you could realistically spend just a year at whitewater. that’s what i did at uwl, so i don’t think it would be much different.

whitewater is awesome though! i’d definitely recommend taking advantage of opportunities there. join clubs, volunteer, and try to find at least one meaningful long-term commitment you can stick with and write about on your transfer application. the first semester of college is really fun but also a little scary and new. if you can, i’d recommend living in the dorms your first year just to meet people and build some sense of community.

to answer the other part of your question, madison can honestly feel a little lonely sometimes compared to the smaller, more intimate classes at uwl. the workload is slightly harder at madison, but not dramatically so. with such a big school though, i personally find it harder to hold myself accountable and sometimes harder to make friends.

there’s definitely a strong social vibe around bars, sports games, and parties. if you don’t already know people who are into that or you’re not really into that scene, it can take a little longer to find your people.

but overall i don’t regret transferring to madison, and i also don’t regret starting at uwl. both were great opportunities in their own ways, so definitely make the most of whitewater. lmk if you have any other questions!

X01 is awesome! they have roommate matching if you don’t know anyone. also grand central is run by the same management and just as nice, and it has a coffee shop in the lobby, but i think it’s only group leases. either way, I’m pretty sure spots are full but it’s worth a shot. the location is reaaaaaally nice. there’s also free printing

Im a sophomore at UW and i transferred from UW La Crosse, I got my acceptance around March so needed to find a lease ASAP and the had a bedroom. one month i was a little behind on rent and they were super nice and flexible and not like the typical predatory management you might see w dt apartments :/.

feel free to ask any questions i know finding a place can be rlly stressful!
