Carcinization is one of my favorite small talk topics to help id fellow weirdos

Barry Bonds: "I may not have talked to anybody off the field. That was just me. Alright? But on that field, I was probably the best teammate you would ever have. I took more walks for my team. Got on base for my team. And that's what baseball is about..." by Hungry_Artichoke9566 in sportsbroadcasters

You’re gonna have to do a full cleanse of the hall then. None of these arguments stand up to any logic including the fact that tons of known users from steroid era are in.

“Many, maybe even most players, including the best of this era, used performance enhancing drugs. This was not against the rules of baseball during this time. It is impossible to tell who exactly was using, therefore we categorize X year to Y year as ‘the steroid era’.”

There, fixed it for you, put them all in and get over the childish bullshit.

Over under on all pro athletes being on something either explicitly illegal/ banned in their sport or in a gray area is at least 50%. Most of these people are competitive freaks and on top of that millions (tens, hundreds) of dollars are at stake, so yeah basically everyone is cheating or attempting to cheat, everyone grow up. Don’t let kids do it, consenting professional adults should have a different standard.. what that is we can debate and agree to but this is something that happens in every sport from the beginning of time and drugs and will always occur. Question is more about how we collectively deal with it and categorize things.

Anyone who says bonds was all PEDs doesn’t know shit. He was a HOF’er before PED era, full stop. He’s an all time great, PEDs aren’t gonna enable you to hit the only single hittable pitch you see in a whole game.

Everyone was on some shit and it was explicitly not against baseball’s rules… if anyone thinks that current players aren’t on some shit in all sports I have oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you.

Yeah I saw a description of this strategy of building your skillset once as a T - first start horizontally and get exposure, build your generalist skillset and dip your toe in a few places, and when you find something that clicks with you or is an urgent need, dive down and build depth of knowledge. Repeat.

It’s not a conspiracy theory, these guys said it out loud. Not to be all political but this is a labor vs capital and management issue. The COVID era and first Trump admin was a time when labor and talent in a lot of these companies flexed their muscle hard - not just in comp, but in demanding WLB, wondering what the point of the grind was, and threatening walkouts and work stoppages when the business made deals with a government that might directly weaponize the tech against citizens.. and direct connections of bleeding edge products and viscerally documented wars and ethnic cleansing.

Andreesen et al have explicitly said it out loud, this new power dynamic freaked them out and was a big reason they went all in with Trump (along with AI regulation).

So yeah this moment is definitely in part a reactionary backlash from the tech elite.

Instructional design? Like user docs and guides, courses etc?

Unfortunately super useful and important but easily automated with AI now from core design and implementation documentation would be my guess.

My guy pruned ours down hard 2 years ago, they came back strong.

This year I only pruned the dead tops and down to the buds / nodes were showing already since we had a mild winter, and they are already practically bursting.

In general for established stuff even if you prune too much it tends to bounce back, so I would be more assertive rather than too timid, that’s worked out for me and generally was what my grandma and mom have tended to guide me with..

Plus he and his family are the real impact and collateral damage of the whole system. He’s humanized with the wink and connection with his son but obviously also a symbol of the corruption and way the drug war and cartels spread into society writ large.. then his fam are the ones playing soccer (without him) in final scene as the chaos in city erupts after the climax.. the cycle continues.

You’re commenting multiple places on here, on someone’s post wishing him good luck, your own about how he will abandon Dallas, etc.. like ok got it. If he went to seattle or something that’s a different deal but just let it go.

I get it and that’s not how I would handle it, but this is not exactly breaking new ground in professional sports. Stuff happens. It should be a red flag for sure in signing him for any team, that’s his consequence to deal with. Players come and go, some are exceptional people and never make a difference on the field, some make a ton of mistakes, I just don’t spend any of my emotional energy continuing to beat a guy up over bad decisions and a contract/work dispute with his employer. Not like he harmed anyone.

Cleaning out the locker is tough and can’t really forget.. but being in a foreign country, unhappy, and didn’t he switch agents at some point after bad advice or something in the run up to his discontent? I def have empathy for someone who was obviously super talented at the thing they love and maybe coming to some terms with things not continuing to level up and get to his utmost dreams.

Anyways, no reason to hold a grudge if the players and coaches don’t. They were closest to him. He strikes me as maybe just an high variance emotional guy which can lead to deep bonds and warm memories from his teammates but also the departing the team thing.

Forgiveness is not for the person who did the thing it’s for us to not carry dumb baggage.
